Chacon came off the disabled list Sunday and made his first start since May 16. He'd been out with a hematoma on his left leg and got a no-decision by working five-plus innings against the A's in a game during which he yielded five runs on six hits. Chacon, as a member of the Rockies, lost his only start against the Nationals last year, but he gave up just two earned runs over seven innings. He's 2-2 with one save against the Nationals/Expos with a 3.03 ERA in 32 2/3 innings.

Ortiz will face the Yankees for the 12th time in his career. He s 3-1 with a 4.12 ERA against them. In his last start, Ortiz was solid for 6 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits. He struck out seven batters, walked two in a 4-3 loss. The loss ended his five-game winning streak. The Rockies got quite a few broken-bat hits, but the way Ortiz saw it, he made some bad pitches.

Thats the problem right there. Yoy get an 0-2 count and our pitchers never seem to finish them off.

18 pitches.  Not great, but certainly better than some of our recent first innings :?

Let's hope the offense plays the full nine innings today.

Fox has a broadcast delay of several seconds.  The Nationals radio broadcast is calling results a few seconds before you see them.

Funny.  Not like we can't all guess what's going to happen anyway.

Byrd takes one for the team, HBP.

Vidro breaks the no hitter, drives in Byrd.  Nick Johnson leaves game?

Seems like Soriano makes up his mind whether or not he's going to swing based on the count, rather than trying to see where the ball is going.  Vidro drives in a run!

Why the hell are they pinch-hitting for Nicky J?  Did I miss something?

Nick has a strained back, listed as day to day.

Byrd forgets how to field.  Wheels coming off the cart.

Ugh.

And Ortiz gives up a single, back-to-back home runs, with a double on top.  Byrd drops a routine fly ball in the deep outfield.

Saul Rivera relieves and promptly walks the pitcher to load the bases...

Rivera clears the bases..by giving up a grand slam home run...don't want to disappoint the Yankees fans helping to rebuild this team with ticket and concessions sales.  Any of you NY's want another $6.50 beer or $6 hit dog?

Thank god i started painting my sister house for her earlier this morning, cuz if i had waited till after the game went off, i would've been in a foul mood and wouldn't have wanted to be bother with doing it
