Burnett has been unbelievably bad this year. And its like Davey Johnson hasn't been watching.

Clip should have pitched this inning

from zuckerman:

Quote
Bernadina with his best Ruben Rivera impersonation. Terrible baserunning on Werth lineout to LF. Made it all the way to 3B before realizing.

I agree someone else should have come in but Clippard can't pitch every game.

He can't be non-tendered. He has a multi-year contract.
Ugh that's right. Rizzo FAILURE for giving a reliever a multiple year deal

He could have pitched today. Wins are at a premium. When you have a chance to win you have to take it.

Burnett can't be trusted period. He's a huge liability unfortunately.

We have to mock the Pirates for losing him in order to get that hack Joel Hanrahan.

Oh wait

Burnett can't even get out a lefty that can't hit lefties. That's his fault. But not in any scenario should he have pitched to McCutchen

Any you know, Joel Hanrahan will sacrifice his first born son to not blow his first save of the season against the Nationals, at Nationals Park!

I agree. Burnett is done. Send him to the minors with hopes of turning him around. Only problem is I have no idea who we can replace him with. J.C. Romero?

Anyway, as for the Clippard situation, we could've brought in Bally, R Math, or Coffey.

Sean Burnett has to be the last option out of the bullpen and it doesn't matter if it's against a lefties or righties because he can't get either of them out.

Edit - Joel Hanrahan IS the last option out of their bullpen...  :mg:

There are several other relievers who can do an inning. What happened to Bally and Mattheus and HRod? Unless Davey is running a test..."OK, I now conclude that Burnett is unpredictable."

This is a bad loss but thankfully it won't be a one-run loss.

As long as Sean Burnett doesn't pitch, we've got a chance.   :?

We deserve to lose , we don't have many opportunities to score , and when we do, we don't capitalize.
