my point is that NJ isn't being benched as a punishment. Neither is Flores.

it's just a day off, and nothing to get worked up about.

Milledge, is getting benched. (hopefully).

Milledge should have been benched for missing a team meeting. If he isn't serious about his job, then it's time to move on.

I hope Milledge doesn't get angry and write a song bashing the Nationals on his next album.

if he does, I'll challenge him to a freestyle battle and whup his ass. under the condition that after I serve him, he retires from baseball.

Milledge, is getting benched for non-performance. (hopefully).

NJ and Dunn are the ONLY players hitting consistently. I'm sorry, you don't bench him. Dukes can get his playing time in AAA.

Wow, people really hate Milledge these days. He's definitely looking terrible out there right now, but I still think he's going to be a good player.

nah, I don't hate him. I just think he needs to be brought down to earth a little bit.

a demotion might just do the trick to teach him that "doing it his way" is not working.

How many hits does Guzman have to get to be included? 4 a game? 5 a game?

you are fixated on "Dukes in AAA".

so much so that you are getting worked up over something that doesn't even involve him.

Dukes playing CF has nothing to do with NJ getting a day off.

I'm still not concerned about NJ getting a day off. he'll be back in the lineup for the next game.

I'm pissed because he missed a team meeting more than his play. I think that sends an I don't care message.

I'm cool with that.  It also fleetingly crossed my mind, that maybe a deal's a brewing for Nick?

How long do you think GM's want to see him perform before they are convinced he's ready?  I'm thinking not very long, a week or two.

who would you rather play 2nd Base on a day-Game-after-a-night-game? Milledge? Dunn? any of your other mancrushes?

Hernandez is hurt. Belliard and Harris is what we've got.

I don't have any mancrushes, but thanks for playing.

Harris was terrible this spring, but hopefully he can bounce back.  I just wish Hernandez was back.  As for Nieves, it sucks b/c Flores has had a hot bat in the last week and a half, we could use that today.

Most of his are infield hits

Actually, I think I just expect him to do well. And with Milledge and Zim on either side of him, he basically is on base with 2 outs all the time.

I am a defense guy, and I am glad Belliard and Milledge will not be playing. Nieves is playing to rest Flores which is fine. I really wish we could assemble a top notch defense...

Doesn't surprise me!  He's not playing well, but some people on here love to bash the guys struggling.  Me included.  I guess people forgot he led the team in HR's, RBI's, SB's last year 8)

Dukes needs everyday AB's. Not spot starts.  I want Dukes to get better.

Manny should have benched his ass. I've never been so down on Manny as I am at this moment. I'm tired of seeing him sitting in the dugout like some extra from the Godfather. He should have been all over Grissom's ass about the outfield positioning.

not hard to do when nobody on the team is capable of hitting more than 14 HRs.

understood.

but what's that got to do with either the Price of Tea in China, or NJ getting a day off?

Dukes isn't a First Baseman, and he's not playing Left Field.

you are starting to sound like Hammonds before we signed Dunn.  we're talking about something totally different, and you volunteer out of nowhere "Dukes in AAA!"

Put Kearns there, or Wee Willie there and Gonzalez at 2B.

well good for him.  i'm not ready to write off his career after two bad games.  hopefully he makes adjustments and gets back out there.

Catchers don't start day games following night games (unless they're on steroids like Ivan Rodriguez).
