People are mad at Hairston for doing what Harper just did. Which was swat at Ramos's glove.

Not the swat at the ball (which Hairston missed).

Hairston clearly swatted at the ball in Ramos' glove.

Harper put his arms up and made contact, but it could have been percieved as fending off contact, sort of a natural self defense maneuver.  Though in the end the effect was the same.

I'm guessing Moore and LaRoche get along swimmingly.

You really expect a Nats forum to nag about a Nat? Okay, bro. Guess my argument is stupid.

Not really. I was being a bit facetious. However, if something is wrong it is wrong whether he is on your team or the opposing team.

who says he can't hit lefties? :)

I said this last year and Harper has admitted it.  He was bored to death in the minors.

If they pull Jackson at 65 pitches... you really do have to question the wisdom of Dentures.

tomterp you were the one that pointed it out, can you straighten out that what Harper did (swiping at the glove) was exactly was hairston did?

They were similar and end effect was the same, but it is plausible that Harper was simply fending off contact with his arms while Hairston clearly had intent to remove the ball.  Did Harper mean to do so as well?  It's not as clear, though possible.

How high and tight was that first pitch?  We going to see a nat get a free pass here?

If Edwin puts anyone on base I'd yank him. Can't blow this game

Ugh, that could come back to bite us. He's always a pitch or two away from giving up a HR or extra base hit

four pitch walk to Upton, probably better than getting to 2-0 and throwing down the middle

EVERY pitcher is "a pitch or two away" from giving up a HR or XBH.

Wild Things is on one of the HBO channels right now.

So, if I'm missing it, the Nats better freakin' win this game.

EJax even more so, especially with the way he is giving up hits tonight.
