Are you in the city?
Yep. Washington Heights...short subway ride from Yankee Stadium: A train to 145th and the D one stop to River Avenue, Stadium, The Bronx.
Using the rain delay to finish Gary Sarnoff's wonderful "The Wrecking Crew of '33", also endorsed by CALSGR8. Just finished a chapter called "War at Griffith Stadium", about the Nats / Yankees brawl
Never knew that Lou Gehrig's steak included paying after being hit in the back of the head by Nats lefty Earl Whitehill. A fastball, no less. "The ball took off as if it had been batted, and bounced through the infield. Gehrig slowly fell 'like he had been poleaxed', and lost consciousness....The tough first baseman regained consciousness, asked for water, then was helped to his feet, and to the amazement of everyone, he remained in the game".
