Dude, that's freaked up regardless of your opinion on him. He's not a murderer or a rapist, get your head out of your ass. You're better than that at least I thought so.

Dude.  I lost my mom to cancer last year.  I know what he's going through.

I won't miss his overrated analysis, inflated opinion of himself and his self-important tripe on BSPN.  I'm not rooting for his death.

then perhaps you should specify that. The way it was posted does not give that impression in any way.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your mother.

Wait, he's quitting his job because he's got the Big C?

Looks more like a leave of absence, although it seems a bit ominous that they're not saying exactly what type of cancer he's fighting.
As a Sox fan he'll always have a special place in my heart, and although he could definitely come across as a bit of a pompous ass I actually enjoyed his baseball commentary, I thought he was pretty candid and didn't just spew a bunch of clichés, I wish him well in his fight, cancer blows :(

Yeah.  He was great in front of Congress.  He had big balls and didn't toe the company line until it actually meant something.

I don't wish cancer on him and wish him a full recovery - as long as it means I don't have to hear his voice ever again.

Actually, I won that sock, took a dump in it and hung it on a flag pole in Copley Square.

So your wishing he recovers from throat cancer? Nice.

He won't say what kind of cancer he has.

I wish him to recover too, I, like Minty, am not a fan of his baseball analysis either.

I can tolerate his mouth and give him a ton of space to say stuff I disagree with. Great respect for his ALS work, too.  He and his wife were very active in skin cancer charities, too.  He knows the only reason people pay attention to him is his baseball career, so that at least keeps him grounded when he pops off on other stuff.

Oh, thanks for Game 6.

some good news:

Now get him into the HOF

Not sure about HOF but that is excellent news, always glad to see someone kick cancer's booty

he's HOF worthy IMHO.
- arguably the best big game pitcher ever with insane post-season stats: 11-2, 2.23 in 19 post-season starts (that's against quality teams), including an NLCS MVP and WS MVP, and the "bloody sock" game.
- top 50 in +ERA
- nine 200 inning seasons, largely pitching for crappy Philly teams
- top 100 in wins (82nd), WAR (62nd), ERA+ (46th), WHIP (47th), K/9 (22nd), strikeouts (15th), innings (96th) and K/BB ratio (2nd)
- led the NL once in complete games and tied for 1st three other times
- six time all-star, four finishes in the top 5 in cy young voting

the only real knock on him is his low career win total (216), but again, he pitched for some very crappy teams and I believe he had something like 30 or 40 blown saves behind him.

I think I'll skip that induction.  Nothing like listening to a self-important asshat like Schilling bloviating an an over-hyped career.

Lol we get it Minty, you're not a fan of Schill's politics, I don't think the career is over-hyped at all though.

Beyond the politics, you think imref's link shows Hall of Fame numbers?  It's supposed to be for the best of the best.  Not the Hall of good baseball players.

Let's put the guy in the Hall though just because he pitched with an open wound on his ankle.
