What'd he say this time?

Essentially he was misunderstoond and didn't mean it the way it was taken, etc.   i. e.  backpedaling

Why can't LeBron drive a stick?

Because he doesn't know what clutch is.

A bit too far IMO...

ouch:

Quote
The Chiefs said they are "looking into" whether they can skip the fourth inning -- another poke at James, who scored just 18 points during the fourth quarter in six NBA Finals games.

Thus ends the 2010-11 NBA season...meanwhile, while we're wondering whether there will be a 2011-12 NBA season (although there have been some hopeful signs as far as the negotiations), the ladies take over the hardwood, and in the case of our local edition the Mystics aren't doing too well - currently 1-3 and losing their first two home matches in practically identical ways: falling too far behind in the early going, still no Alana Beard (nursing pre-season foot injury, return TBD), turning the ball over excessively (Crystal Langhorne, the Mystics' best player, got whistled for FOUR travels yesterday) and no guard penetration (I already miss Lindsey Harding).

Still nice and comfortable inside the Phone Booth on a hot summer day though, and the beer is decent (if unadventurous) and the tickets aren't pricey...and still doing dodgy attendance stats (announced attendance last night 7028 - I doubt there were half that many in there).

Out of the NBA but still thinking 'bout shootin'

Former NBA player Darius Miles was arrested at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport after he allegedly tried to take a loaded gun on a plane, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Miles, 29, was held around 3.30 p.m. on Wednesday after X-ray screening at the airport helped security officials to detect the loaded firearm. It was not known if the gun was found on Miles or in his luggage.

The St. Louis native was booked into the city's county jail in Clayton on Wednesday evening on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon.

He was to be booked and released pending application of a warrant on a formal criminal charge, the paper reported. The St. Louis County prosecutor's office will decide whether to file charges following a review of the case.

Miles last played in the NBA in 2009. He averaged 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds across a checkered career, which took in spells with the LA Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies.

Why do people still get caught taking guns onto airplanes? It just defies logic. BTW..The NBA could go away for all I care. College BB is wayyyyyy better.

It just might actually - this past Monday the league and the union finally held their first-ever talks since the lock-out began...basically three hours or so of talking past each other, neither side optimistic and there's already talk of the season possibly being cancelled (like the NHL in 2004-05).

If it gets ESPN to stop talking about the NBA, I'm all for it.

I wouldn't go that far - euro league I agree, but (and maybe it's the american in me) I really hate watching a league when I know how far from the top it is- It would be like following the PNats apart from their affiliation from the Nats

I was actually hoping that the NHL would sign another contract with ESPN so that we could actually get some NHL coverage on ESPN. it's all NBA AND Lebore James on ESPN. They probably would have had a 2 hour special on ESPN if the Heat had won the title.

Agreed. European soccer is better and more interesting than the NBA. College BB is better than soccer though. I think the MLS is lame.

Yet somehow the skipper of the USMNT has spent all but one season of his professional career in MLS. It's not the Premier League, but it might be on par with the Belgian or Dutch leagues.

Do you think any mls team could compete with Ajax? The way their cap works, they may get a star on some teams, but the don't have depth

To be honest with you, I don't really follow soccer all that much. I do know about alot of the teams in Europe like Manchester U and Barcelona..etc, etc. I do follow the World Cup, but that's only every four years. The atmosphere at the games in Europe is pretty wild. They really get into the games. Doesn't seem like you get that here in the states.
