IP knowledge ≠ Big Brother - Chief can figure out where I'm posting right now if he wants to. I used to be administrator of a few sites, and I would frequently check IPs (although most of the time, it was to see if multiple users shared the same IP. I'd also check location to see if the same person was just posting from the same place in another town, or if it was a shared account).
