The 49ers' Akers has been missing half his FG attempts over 40 yards. A key defensive injury has also limited the 49ers ability to get to the QB. The Redskins' Kai Forbath made field goals of 48 and 49 yards in the 3rd quarter against the Ravens, before they tied the game with 29 seconds left, and won in OT.

The Redskins' defeat of the Ravens resulted in the firing of OF Cam Cameron. Elevating former Indianapolis Head Coach Jim Caldwell to the position vastly improved the offense, which now runs more and completes more passes over 20 yards. The Ravens' current offensive line was formed near the end of the season, and is giving Flacco more time to throw.

I picked the 49ers yesterday, but read more reports today, and changed my mind: "Everything to know about the Super Bowl"

(I went with SF yesterday on a MONEY contest, only getting 11 out of 20 correct. I wish ESPN had published today's article before I submitted that one.)

eckseid was second with 6 correct, even though he picked SF to win it.
Three entries got 4 correct apiece.

It turned out to be a competitive game, which SF could have won at the end. ~~David Akers did MISS a field goal attempt,~~ and the 49ers failed to convert a 2-point conversion. ~~We could have had OVERTIME if both succeeded (assuming the Ravens wouldn't allow a safety at the end.~~) But the Ravens also failed to get a first down on a fake field goal on 4th and 9, so going the safe route would have sealed the game for them.

It's crazy that the refs didn't want to throw flags at the end of the game. The entire Ravens OL was holding (excellent strategy) on the safety and not a single flag was thrown.
