How about Garrett Mock's last four starts?

6.0 IP 5H 2ER 3BB 7K
6.0 IP 6H 0 ER 4 BB 6 K
5.0 IP 3 H 2 ER 2 BB 8 K (this is the game where the umpire screwed him, he could've gone 6 IP 0 ER)
5.2 IP 7 H 4 ER 2 BB 6 K

Not great, but solid enough that if he can produce at this level he will stick around in the majors.

tonight he wasn't good and i was disappointed (dibs was reeming him).  i've been really coming around on him lately and feel confident everytime he's out there ... but tonight he had a huge lead and came unraveled.

with that said, you are right in that he's been one of our better starters recently and he's earned the opportunity to pitch the remainder of the year up here.

I think it's important to remember that he was converted a reliever last year because of our shortage there and spent 1/2 the year as a reliever as well. He's still developing as a prospect so hopefully he can continue to string 5-6 IP 3-4 ER outings together.

He can definitely ring 'em up, though.

Who is the genius who said that only morons think that Josh Willingham isn't in a slump?

But he was in a slump...

3 bad games in a row is not a slump. A slump is what Elijah Dukes was in before this game

He was 1 for his last 21 (.048 BA) prior to this game.

Some slumps are longer than others. That wasn't as bad as one of the slumps Guzman was in (for example) but it was about a week long slump.

Not going to lie, Dukes impressed me tonight. But knowing him tomorrow he will go 0-4 with 2 K's since he is the streakiest hitter in the league.

you could say the same thing for the Nats. Fixed:

Not going to lie, Nats impressed me tonight. But knowing them tomorrow they will get dominated by Rich Harden since they are the streakiest team in the league.

dukes showed his "what he is capable of" potential tonight.  it comes in spurts (as we all know he's been in a slump recently) and hopefully we see it [the good dukes] more.  it would really help us out if he can finish the season with more consistency.  then we could maybe cross off an item on our "things left to do" list.

That's a sucky lineup. Might not listen.
going to get pwned.

I love it when the Nats get written off early and then absolutely kick tail.
Fun game to watch last night.
Cubs fans had lots of dingers to throw back.

He DOES have a 10.7 K/9 over the last four starts.

So...what's the verdict.  Are we changing up who makes the next thread or are we going back to the old way of winner stays?

I believe I said that. I said it because he was in a slump and looked awful at the plate. He looked lost. He had a couple games where he struck out 3 times and looked really bad. Lannan has been bad lately. If he goes out and throws a quality start next time out would that mean that he hasn't been bad lately?

Damn. Willingham had 22 points in ESPN fantasy... Zambrano had -14
