I think it's a shame that no matter how long Livo keeps it up, people are going to keep shouting about flukes and houses of cards. I can't deny that I too keep expecting him to implode, though.
Even if he finishes the entire season with an ERA under 3, there are people who will be 100% certain that he doesn't even deserve a second look for next year's rotation.
I don't think what he has done is a fluke at all. He is a master on the mound and relies upon a combination of a great mix of pitches and a chess-master's strategy. He knows how to pitch, uses his defense, and unlike most every other pitcher, knows how to gamble effectively by putting guys on to select a batter he prefers to face. The guy knows how to pitch, and certainly would have been excused for giving up more runs in previous games, despite pitching well. But this is a tough matchup. He doesn't have the advantage of pitching around guys to get to a pitcher, the Tigers offer a dangerous lineup of hitters who are used to AL pitchers throwing more offspeed and breaking stuff on the corners, and the defense behind him is dealing with a more expansive OF to cover.
It's not about things catching up to him, it is about facing more challenging conditions. Certainly, he can do well, I just expect it to be tougher to pull off.
