for perspective, the most at Logan Airport ever was 27.5", mostly fluffy stuff, in 2/03.  This is showing heavy snow about 6+ hours longer than other models.  I can believe 30+" in the interior, like Worcester, pretty easily, but on the ocean like Logan is pretty amazing if it happens.

there are some forecasts suggesting 40" of snow in the Boston area.

And here's the Euro for Feb 18.

Local weather in Boston is sticking with 18" - 24" for most of eastern Mass north of the cape cod canal, with a pocket of 24" - 30" southwest of Boston to Providence.  Snow has picked up quite a bit since I landed at 9:45.  Boston streets were closed by the mayor at noon.  The MBTA is shutting down at 3:30.

Right about the time I got to my Dad's condos, power went down.  It was restored after 30 minutes or so, but the old folks were all putting on their coats because it was below 78 in their apartments.

I should be back in DC in time for next week's storms

Shutting down the T??  That's serious.  I don't recall that ever happening when I lived there.

And they can't tax me for my right to use that road!

Well, there are a couple of grounded Dreamliners at Logan that are probably full of jet A if there is a run on fuel.

Latest Euro shows the snow on 2/17 centered around Atlanta, may miss the D.C. area, the snow hole lives!

Thanks, Mitlen.  This is the part where we are supposed to tell jokes back and forth before I talk about the snow.

. . .

We are well stocked with breakfast bars and energy bars, as well as boxes of noodles and <1/2 pound  of corned beef, so I suppose we should have not problem lasting past lunch Saturday here at my Dad's apartment. Forced carb intense dieting.

Wind is picking up a bit, snowfall is still only moderate, I think.  Not much more than an inch or two so far. I can still  see cars go by on the highway 300 yards from the window.

Where is the Jim Cantore standing in battery park as the water comes up thread from Sandy.  That had to be the funniest thing I've seen live.

"so, do I need to move out of here?"

"well, in 1800 the water went 6 feet over where you are standing"

speaking of breaking wind, it's starting to pick up here, AtBC.

Even the Cheesecake Factory is closed.  My dad feels a sense of loss.

:old:

Can see under the doors of cars still, so it is probably no more than 3" here so far.  Snow rate is picking up.  46 MPH gusts in Boston, 50+ on Nantucket.

When did the glass blow out of the Hancock BLDG?     Seeing the wind in live TV shots reminded me of that.

Good to see another Cuomo get a job due to ability on CNN.    Every time I see a Cuomo, I think about Mario's comment that America wasn't ready for a President with a vowel at the end of his name.   Little did Mario think it would be Obama.  BTW, this isn't political, just irony.

But Chris Cuomo ain't too bad.
