Drafted him last year too... but like in Round 40 on the off chance he'd sign with us.

Callis says he drives scouts nuts. Looks like a first rounder one day and un-draftable the next.

Classic boom or bust.

Mooneyham went 7-5 with a 4.26 ERA in 14 starts with 90 K's in 82.1 IP in 2012.

Solid pick. Tall, lanky lefty with good velocity and a good breaking ball.

Have some MLB teams found their loopholes in this CBA? #Nationals & #Pirates & #Jays are piling up the expected bonuses

Can a team perpetually forfeit first round picks by going over every year?

I guess so. I went back to re-read the changes and they make me sick. Having a lottery to give away the confiscated draft picks to other teams? Gross.

+1 let the below slot gems begin...It's likely going to take atleast 3.5 mill to sign Gio I believe that's what Purke signed for a year ago and considering their both in similar situations 3.5 mill or so should get it done.

Sign Mooneyham. Steve McCatty can fix him.

the nationals have 2.7 allocated to their top two picks under this system, assuming they sign no one else, that only leaves an additional 1.7 to split between those two guys- if they really want over slot, the nats are either forfeiting picks or not signing them

If you don't sign your pick, you still lose their recommended slot money.

Is there's minimium you have to sign the guy for to keep the money? I.e. could a team pick bob from accounting in the 4th round, sign him for $10 and keep the slot money?

I think it has to be atleast 40% of the slot recommended value
