Saw Goodwin last night. Had one chance in CF: long, huge, line drive hit off of Chien Ming Wang, who appears finished. Long run, out-stretched left arm to save probably a triple. Looks comfortable in CF.

Could not hit a thing.

My guess, from one game, is that both Goodwin and Rendon need at least another half-season at AA, then time in AAA to learn to hit.

So, basically, they're about where we thought they would be. That's fine. We have the players to cover for them at the MLB level. They can take their time developing.

some writer recently said there's a shot goodwin makes his debut at some point next year.

i also heard somewhere that scouts are pretty high on him and they wouldn't be surprised to see him on the club.

More reason to not sign an expensive OF.

This kid is developing a bit more quickly then I thought he would.  I'm starting to think that the Nats should hold off on a big CF target and might be able to wait out bringing up Goodwin.

nice scouting report on goodwin.

Goodwin needs one more year to mast AA and AAA, but he should be with the Nats next September. Where do they play him? I don't know...have Harper, Bernadina ahead in CF, plus Eury Perez. No matter, Goodwin is just plain fun to watch when he fields.

Nats do NOT need the magic CF from outside.

when the time comes, Bernadina and Perez wont block him

Curtis Granderson 2.0??? Same height and same weight, and their minor league path so far looks quite similar.

Here are the stats
Granderson minor league career http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=grande001cur
Goodwin http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=goodwi001bri

I'll stand by my prediction.

What is Goodwin's arm like? Could stick him in right if his arm will carry. Put Werth in LF.

He's a better defender than Harper. Harper is the one that gets bumped to right.

I find that very hard to believe. Harper had one of the best seasons for a CFer and  he didn't even play a full season. Not to mention, Harper's ego might need to play CF

Harper will put on some weight as he ages.  I'd guess he won't be able to play CF for more than another couple of seasons.

Harper's ego seems to want one thing most: play and win. I suspect that if Goodwin is good enough, Harper moves to LF.

Except Harper was a disaster in LF, okay in RF, and fantastic in CF. Frankly, I think Goodwin starts in LF or RF until he shows that he's better than Harper.

Harper play 7 games in LF... idk how anything he did could be considered a disaster.

He's a converted catcher, he's had very little experience in any of the outfield positions.  I wouldn't write him off yet as a possible LF or RF until he's been given a substantial time and effort of the coaching staff to teach him the position.
