  • Hell yes!
Put that way for the next 14 years, okay?

Remember, this is the same guy who was ticked off that the Nats saved money by dealing Detwiler.

The presumption is that reduced spending on player x won't ever be spent on player y, z or a.  And this can be proved by the steady decline in total compensation paid to Nats players year by year.

So they DFAed Fortano to make room.

Here is what's weird: my At Bat app for iPhone lists 39 guys on the roster. It did before Janssen was on there, and still does. Does anyone else use the app? Who is missing?

I just counted 40 on there with Janssen and without Fortano.

Butler didn't get added to the app until today, but he is there now.  I counted them up after the Scherzer signing and it seemed as though there was still one spot, but I guess it took them a while to catch that.

Thanks!

I think we're going to be disappointed.

[When the Blue Jays promised to make a trade deadline deal and then didn't,] Both Casey Janssen and Bautista knocked management.

“Casey is the biggest competitor there is, he was tired of hearing the same thing each year,” Lind said. “He didn’t want to leave Toronto.”

Lind said Janssen didn’t want to sign with Washington.

The actual quote from Lind is that Jansen didn't want to leave Toronto, period. That's not unusual for players who eventually move on to different teams.

Yeah, he preferred to stay in Toronto but he disliked the Blue Jays management team.

Asdrubal Cabrera didn't want to leave Cleveland either.  Put them on a winning team though and perceptions change quickly.  No doubt that Janssen will always have a soft spot for Toronto, but if he wins with Washington the pain of leaving will be gone.

He was in Toronto for a year longer than Clippard was with us. I'm sure he wanted to work things out with Toronto but he's past that now and is here to win a ring in DC.

Janssen holding steady at 84-85 today.  Highest speed hit: 87.  Not too good.

Spring training radar guns are notoriously off. But, yeah, Janseen is not a hard thrower. Should be in the low 90s.

Saw Jannsen on TV Saturday. So far, not so good. Here's hoping...though I miss Clippard.
