Every single important call went Syracuse's way. Fix was in.

How often do you see Jay Bilas saying the refs will be taken out of the tournament?

Syracuse played like crap. They couldn't handle Ashville's man to man nor their zone. No way they survive if they come out and execute as pathetically on Saturday.

Every higher seed has won today.  There have been no upsets.

The refs were bad but they were bad both ways. There was a horrible goaltending call in the 1st half against Syracuse (quite possibly the worst goaltending call I've ever seen). They also freaked up the call at the end of the first half in which Triche got fouled with less than a second left and they waived it off because he didn't get the shot off in time. How they freaked that up after having time to see the monitor and think it over I don't know. While he didn't get the shot off and the basket should not have counted, the foul occurred before the shot clock hit zero and Triche should've been given two free throws. The only thing not getting the shot off in time should've nulled was the "and one" scenario. Also, on the call that went off Triche with about a minute left, there was a clear foul and again Triche should've been awarded two free throws. They were also calling petty touch fouls against Syracuse early in the first half. So it's not like the refs only freaked one team. They freaked up the whole game. It's just that it didn't give people the satisfaction they wanted of seeing the upset and for that reason they are nagging about it.

Some really smart dude here picked K State to beat 'cuse on Saturday.  And that was before Fab Melo was suspended.

VCU starting to cough up another double-digit lead right on cue with 12 minutes left.  One of these times - maybe this one - they aren't going to be able to hold on.

They better hold on. I have them in the sweet 16. Looks like WVU is going to screw me as they are getting crushed by Gonzaga.

Congrats to the Rams of VCU.

One more win and Smart may be renegotiating last year's deal again.

I have one bracket in a money pool where:
a. Defending NCAA champion Connecticut, now a #9 seed, upsets both #8 Iowa State and then #1 Kentucky
b. VCU wins the next round, upsetting #4 Indiana.
c. VCU meets and beats UConn... in what should have been the 2011 final...
d. VCU then loses in the next round.  Sorry!

My brother went to VCU and we drove all night and day to see the 2011 Final Four game.  His daughter's 2012 bracket has them winning the championship.

One more win means one more game before he heads to Illinois.

"...In June, Smart signed an eight-year contract worth $1.2 million annually, plus bonuses. If Smart leaves in the first year of the contract, VCU is owed $800,000. The buyout is reduced by $100,000 per season. He would also be obligated to play a home-and-home series between his new employer and VCU. Those games could be avoided with a $250,000 payoff...."

I don't know anything about what highly sought-after college coaches usually make, but those disincentives don't sound like a lockdown by any means to me.

Far from it Chief. $800K for a school like Illinois to pay for hiring Smart is peanuts.
