We have a serious problem.
« Topic Start: May 03, 2014, 04:31:15 PM »
Zimmerman should be coming back soon.

and he probably still can't throw across the diamond.

Laroche has been solid.

Espinosa has been playing VERY well.

Rendon is the best hitter on the team and is very solid at 3rd. and CAN throw across the diamond.

so...where do we put Zimmerman?

Take turns with those 4 giving them a day off . Williams likes to rest them anyway so its not a really big problem. Make Desmond rest some too and put Danny at SS. And Adams leg is barking at him so who knows if he will need to miss anytime. We dont have a problem at all. We are actually in a really good situation in the infield. Outfield too with Fransden , Mc Clouth and soon Hairston. Lobaton is getting hot at the bat and is a good defender and works well with the pitching staff so we will actually be stacked.

Clickbait title and something that is not actually a problem.

This has been discussed elsewhere. But sure. Zimmerman to left field because why not.

Convert to the AL until the trade deadline and have Zimmerman DH for 8 weeks?

I didn't say it was a BAD problem. just a serious one. having too much talent is never a bad problem.

but yeah, he still can't throw to 1st though. something has to give.

Think a throw from deep left would be better than the 127 from third to first?

There wouldn't be a problem if the NL had a DH like nature intended!

Why don't we wait until Zimmerman is back (like 2-4 weeks). If Desmond still can't hit, then the decision is obvious.

We would be wise to trade LaRoche while is value is at a maximum.  Perfect timing.

And what do we do when Rendon goes down with an injury, smart guy?

[deeznats] Trade Strasburg for a middle infielder while he still has some value. [/deeznats]

Rather trade Harper. Think the Cards would give us Oscar Tavares and Kolten Wong?

You'd have to sweeten the deal by throwing in Strasburg and two prospects.  :stir:

I hate to be the guy that says "Just put Espinosa in the OF" but with Harper on the DL, and Espinosa playing well, could Espinosa handle a few starts in LF? You can let Zimm play 3rd, and move Rendon back to 2B. You can still use Espinosa in INF when you rest Zimm's shoulder, and let Zimm start a few times at 1B while we rest LaRoche against a tough lefty.

this "problem" is akin to a polygamist trying to decide which wife to spend the night with.
win, win, win, win, win,

I don't know. I've seen some of the women in those relationships and most of them are full of "problems".

Rendon's arm at third is so much better than Zimm's.

With Laroche nursing a quad, I don't think anyone gets moved. We might want to look in to playing Ramos at first when he comes back.

I'm not convinced Danny is going to still be hitting by the time Zimm gets back.

I'm pretty sure that's a given.

If Lombo and Moore can play LF, couldn't Danny or Rendon play there?

They certainly could, but a I doubt that they will with McLouth on the roster making 5 mil a year.
