Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
Source: #Nationals speaking to 5-6 teams about Morse. Earning $7M this season, then eligible for free agency.

I just hope it's not the O's.  That would suck.

If it's the O's, I'm bumping the Fire Rizzo thread.

Significant interest in Michael Morse, source says. Again, no surprise. He's a fairly affordable cleanup hitter.

I don't care where he goes, as long as it's not within the division.  That there's a solid amount of interest in him is a good sign.

To some of us DC natives, the O's should be considered part of our division when considering trade offers.

The O's are worse than in division- the Phillies didn't spend years trying to keep a team out of DC

I agree.

Feeling this way about players is a negative side-effect of having a good team to root for.

sigh.  Morse might not have been the best player on this team, but he was in many ways the heart of it.  I'm going to miss him.  That being said, I think keeping LaRoche for the next two years was the right move.

Uh, no. If they offer something good, we should take it.

I'd rather the lesser return than doing anything to help the Os improve.

Agree with taking less being preferable to trading him to the O's.  Let them cheer for Nate McLouth.

Brian Matusz was very good out of the pen for them towards the end of the year (Admittedly a small sample size.) and he'd offer some rotation insurance if Haren gets hurt. Xavier Avery could be included as well.

You are welcome ;)

Not to take a victory lap but my source is nearly impeccable in regards to the Nats. I don't talk to him often but I trust with near 100%. He gave me this info because he thought I was depressed about RGIII.

How do you spell SkinsNDeacs - Svrluga!  jk

Part of me wants Morse to the Os so I can see him on MASN.  That's a sick thought.  Can you hear the Balmorons singing Take on Me?

Consensus on thier board seems to be Troy Patton/Brian Matsusz for Morse....though some of them think Morse isn't worth it.

I want the Nats to trade him to the Mariners. They are loaded with pitching prospects!
