Tony Armas, RHP (7-8, 4.72)..... @ ..... Brett Myers, RHP (8-5, 4.12)

Armas hasn't won a game since July 23 and is looking to snap a personal three-game losing streak. Last Sunday, a 3-1 loss to the Mets spoiled a great outing by Armas, who gave up one unearned run in seven innings. He threw 98 pitches, 60 of them for strikes. It was Armas' best outing since July 23, when he gave up just one in seven innings against the Cubs.

Myers' tendency to allow the long ball came back to hurt him again in a rough start against Cincinnati last time out. The right-hander became the first Phillie in eight years to allow back-to-back-to-back home runs as Edwin Encarnacion, Adam Dunn and Rich Aurilia each deposited a Myers pitch over 400 feet away. He now leads the team, having allowed 21 home runs, but still has the best record on the starting staff and the lowest ERA. Myers has faced the Nationals twice this year, giving a strong outing for eight innings in a May 30 win and taking a no-decision after allowing six runs in three innings on June 9.

I really think the Myers thing was overexaggerated, not to disagree with the fact that it was totally wrong.  I dont think its compulsive or anything like that.

Pulling a female (especially your wife) by the hair so she'll walk down the street with you and then punching her with a closed fist might in fact be compulsive.....but I think its cowardly.  Pitching the next day is an absolute JOKE, one which the Phillies organization has admitted was wrong.

Kearns is taking the night off, Church will take his spot. Esco in center.  Vidro is back and is batting 5th.  Should be interesting

Looks like we're in good position for a Curly W tonight!  Vidro should be batting leadoff, he's only good at hitting with no men on.

Why would Church chase a breaking ball when Myers hadn't recorded an out................frustrating.

The answer is because he has no clue about the strike zone.
