Caps got lazy. But that icing penalty killed them.

What channel is the game on tonight?

NVM. If you have Cox, the game is on 1074

...  give up a goal and then get a penalty.    The route to success.

Oh yeah, and then give up a PP goal.

My wife's analysis of the Caps PP: If we don't score in the first 20-30 seconds, we don't score at all.

Ovy is back. No matter what happens the rest of this season, it's really good to see him back to his MVP self. Oates is the best thing that has ever happened to him.

He broke bones in his leg. Probably more than one.

Nice play by Mojo and Ward

You notice that he's back and skating well, like he's in shape. Would be nice if he showed up for the first game in shape.

I swear, Ovie is one dedicated offseason from being a complete monster. If he took the Jordan/Kobe approach, the Caps would win the Stanley Cup. Easily.

That's just simply not true. Hockey is not basketball. Ovechkin has been an MVP multiple times and been a stud in the playoffs and he has not won a Cup. Hockey is 100% a team sport. Basketball can be won by individuals.

Chasing after a puck to get the icing call. Went in to the board hard.

How come Jordan didn't win till he got Pippen, Grant, and Phil Jackson? Ovechkin hasn't been MVP quality in years. He needs to spend an off season working on his shot, conditioning drills, and other things. Kobe would should thousands of jumpers a day in the offseason. Jordan had such  a drive that people had to keep him from working out too much. Jerry Rice was notorious for his offseason work outs.

Then you have Ovie, who gets speeding tickets, gets fat, has a hot girlfriend, and goes to Russia and parties like a rock star. That's what I hate about Ovie. He should have been in this form from the get go.

Basketball isn't hockey. Ovechkin can do all those things and get back to his 65-goal level but if the team around him continues to be under-par he won't win.

And we have no idea what his workouts are like. I don't attribute his spike in performance to be anything to do with conditioning. He was playing in the KHL before the lockout. After the first 7-8 games of the season he got into a groove and has been a beast since then. I think it's more with him adjusting to the RW finally and getting his confidence back. It also helps that Ribeiro was on fire early on and that Backstrom has emerged from being totally invisible.

But please, keep comparing basketball to hockey when they are completely different sports.
