I'm not angry or anything, it's just not realistic.

But as long as you acknowledge that it really can't happen.

Bernadina has his crap straight right now.

he had a very good spring but looked overmatched last year.

Just having fun moving guys around and thinking about what could happen. It's a big suck right now with Milledge and Dukes as automatic out and Milledge unable to make routine plays.

I predict a minimum of two errors on the infield today simply by having Dunn at 1B instead of Nick.  I watched three throws in last night's game that would've been easy errors if we had Belly at 1B like we did last year.  No way Dunn gets those either.

Belliard has no range for throws at 1B and should never play there. He's way too short. But Nick has never been very good at picking balls in the dirt, and that is continuing. Throwing errors are saved by picking first basemen. I don't expect Dunn to make those plays either (although he may get there with extended work), but those throws in the dirt cost us with Nick anyway. We may prevent a high throw or two with Dunn, but we also pick up fielding errors.

Dunn at 1B without a rangey 2Bman is a prescription for a lot of ground ball singles to RF.

Milledge was added to the Mets' 40 man roster in 2006. That's one option left. Kudos Ronny. Immediately swap Bernadina-for-Milledge then.

I really hope Cabrera has a good outing today. If he can get ahead against any of their lefties, they won't be able to touch his two-seamer. That pitch is nasty.

I meant Kearns or Willie in CF, but Kearns at 1st isn't unreasonable.
I bet he'd have an easier transition there than Dunn would and possibly even better than Willingham, not sure about that though.  If there's one thing we know about Kearns is that he's a steady glove.  IF/when NJ goes down (God forbid) it'd be interesting to see if that's an option that's explored.  Dunn, Kearns, Willingham on the field toghether is a good thing.

I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment of Nick.  I watched him play a good deal of 1B when he was with the Yankees and he was really good a going down and digging out errant throws.  Yesterday he successfully saved at least two (and in my opinion three) separate errors - one by Zimmerman and one by Guzman, both on errant throws in the dirt in front of him.

NO WAY Dunn gets to that level ever.  He can hardly chase a ball around the outfield without making it an adventure.

Nick is a much better defensive 1B than you give him credit for.

He's great when you compare him to Dunn.

First basemen are supposed to be able to dig out throws in the dirt, and most can. Dunn isn't a first baseman, but he's one of our only options when NJ has a day off.

I think we should get Byrd (if he's healthy).

With all due respect, ronny, I watched Nick on a daily basis whey he was with the Yankees; he is a great defensive 1B.

You're right that Dunn is one of our only options to give NJ a day off, but it doesn't mean he's a good option.  He just happens to be better than Belliard.

The horror.....

You should be happy about this.  At least the ball is coming to Dunn instead of him having to go to it.

The second hitter of the season hit one right at him.  That worked out well.

I watched him play for them, too. I swore he was going to be GREAT power hitter back then.

I wouldn't call him a top-notch defensive first baseman, but he is good.
