Pretty sure Dibble used to call him Roger "The Body" Bernadina.

He's always this pumped up before Spring training.

My first thought exactly.

Exactly.

So was Schwarzenegger, Canseco, McGwire, Bonds, etc. etc. etc.

So what is your point . . . ?

That if it he were pumped up because of PEDs, it would have been discovered by now? That this picture, for anyone that has paid attention, isn't a surprise, but a yearly reprise? That the guys that you have to suspect of using PEDs are the guys that have no history of being ripped?

Michael Phelps is lean. Shark is not. Shark is jacked.

Lean muscle mass is lean muscle mass, regardless of the quantity.

Shark has more lean body mass (muscle) than Phelps does.

Nobody said he was lean, the quote you responded to was:

Riiiiiight! Because that is the only way someone could possibly gain lean muscle mass.

I am in agreement that there is a difference between “lean muscle mass” = little or no fat content and “lean” meaning an overall thin or skinny body.

But Bernie is neither.

He is pumped up beyond normal human proportions.
And if some people think that that comes strictly from the gym, whether it is the first time or over several years, well, what can I say.
Some people believe in the tooth fairy too, I guess.

Lean muscle mass:

Arms are twice as big. Thighs are huge too. It's a sprinter's body with an upper body to match.

That's not "lean muscle mass." That is muscle mass.

lean, in this context, is describing the fat content, not the amount of muscle fiber.
