That's funny in light of kimnat's comment about the umpire checking the scoreboard for the count last night (especially since Bob mentioned last night that the scoreboard was wrong too).

This is who Levale is - a contact pitcher - Good defense shouldn't be considered luck -

now we've seen numerous times when we've let pitchers off the hook and they wind up settling down and pitching well....can Speigner do likewise?

The ball was hit right at Lopez, when that happens to us people call it bad luck so it can't be good defense when it's the other way around.

LOL ...I'm of the school where I tip my hat to a guy (my team or their team) when they make a good play - good luck is a ball that is deflected off the pitcher's butt, bounces right to the SS standing on 2nd to turn an easy double play ...  Bad luck is when it hits the friggin umpire at 2nd and bounces into right field scoring a run for the other team ... (gee ... what are the chances of that!?)

No the point was that scoreboard operators rely on the umpire's to do their job and a lot of times they (the scoreboard operators) are wrong for one reason or another so it wouldn't be a good thing for the umpire to rely on the scoreboard operator for the count...today they have Stairs listed twice in the lineup... :icon_mrgreen:

the good thing is that they've hit a couple hard balls so maybe that bodes well for later

my point in referencing the scoreboard last night was that if he lost count, all he had to do was look up and see the "3" under the ball count and hopefully know the next number would be 4!
