So it is,  let me rephrase,  like bad whiskey (also,  no way in he'll do I believe there is no distilling occurring to get that alcohol level)

Yeah, they must just fortify the crap out of it.  Sort of like those hot sauces with capsaicin extract...they are like eating police pepper spray.

The article said the "freeze ferment" it. Basically they keep freezing it and scooping the ice out. Alcohol has a lower freezing point than the rest of the ingredients so they are scooping out the "fluff" and leaving the boozy goodness behind.

I read the article, I still dont buy it,

The beer then undergoes a process called freeze fermenting, which is done by drastically lowering the temperature and repeatedly removing the first part to freeze, leaving behind only the richest alcohol content.

even the hardiest yeast has trouble over 15%, anything over that and it becomes much harder to keep alive (one of the reasons why 120 minute is so special), after the first thaw, the yeast should all die.

The beer is ready at this point, except for pulling the "excess" water out of it to concentrate what's left.  The yeast has already done its job.

Eh, alot of your heavier beers have a certain "viscious" quality too them. Now, to what extent is the question. You get into the whole conversation of the "mouth feel" of a beer (it's an actual term, so, no homo) Like I said, I love beer of all types. I would love to try this one, but maybe only once depending on what I thought of it.

Brewer also said it's more of a "liqueur" and that it should be served in a brandy-sized doses. Much like the harder beers I had at Dogfish Head.

I've become more a fan of lighter beers such as Blue Moon, Longboard, Sam Adams, ect.

Anyone visiting the Outer Banks needs to try the Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills - MP 8.5
We got growlers before Sandy hit and they are awesome.  Particularly the Tropical Stoudt, which goes well with dessert

I had some Ballast Point Sculpin IPA last night...hoppy as hell, delish.  Also a Cape Ann Fisherman’s Pumpkin Stout which was pretty tasty.  And maybe 4 or 5 others I can't remember

Ms. Houston, our friend who was celebrating his birthday, and I went to a ten-beer tasting on Saturday. The pumpkin ales were at the end and I was honestly a little too far gone to be a good beer critic for those, but the standouts of the ten were Left Coast Voodoo Stout - which did extremely well in a direct taste-off against Old Rasputin - and Austin's own 512 Pecan Porter, which really is one of the best porters in the business and one of my favorite beers. Ms. Houston didn't like Chimay Red, so the birthday boy chugged hers. I am now falling apart laughing at random moments of the day when the thought suddenly pops in my head - "Rory chugged a glass of Chimay!"

After the Great Britain Beer Festival, in London, all the brewery presidents decided to go out for a beer. The guy from Corona sits down and says "Hey Senor, I would like the world's best beer, a Corona." The bartender dusts off a bottle from the shelf and gives it to him.

The guy from Budweiser says "I'd like the best beer in the world, give me 'The King Of Beers', a Budweiser." The bartender gives him one.

The guy from Coors says "I'd like the only beer made with Rocky Mountain spring water, give me a Coors." He gets it.

The guy from Guinness sits down and says "Give me a Coke." The bartender is a little taken aback, but gives him what he ordered.

The other brewery presidents look over at him and ask "Why aren't you drinking a Guinness?" and the Guinness president replies

"Well, if you guys aren't drinking beer, neither will I."

What's the Pecan Porter like?  Anything like Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Ale?

You mean the one where the Mexicans piss in bottles and the Americans drink it?

I think our beer tasting had the Hazelnut Brown as well. I liked it, a lot actually, but 512 Pecan is a deep black color, but not thick or creamy - very drinkable, a fuller and more unified group of tastes, maybe less nutty actually but then I don't actually like to eat pecans so I couldn't tell you how pecan-y it is. I don't think they bottle any of it, only served on tap, which breaks my heart because it's one of the five beers I'd take to the desert island.

It certainly looks that way - however I would propose that piss probably has more flavour than Corona (but then again so does distilled water).

Mexico actually has quite an old brewing tradition as I understand it...considerable European immigration and influence in the 19th century (including an Austrian monarch, Emperor Maximilian) meant good beer, and a lot of that survived the Revolution.
