Corey Brown is just 169 miles away.

Xavier Nady can put the ball in the seats and has done so this year in pinch hitting situations. You don't pay pinch hitters to get to 1st, you pay them to make runs cross the plate. I'm find keeping him as a pinch hitter due to the lack of a better option at this point.

I'd add Marrero as well

On a night when the Nats have 14 hits, Nady manages to look bad in his only at bat by grounding into a double play.

But with Bernie hurting now, Nady probably sticks around for a while longer.
But maybe ... Just maybe, Corey Brown gets called up if Shark goes to the DL

You don't pay pinch hitters to hit singles or Chris Marrero would be fantastic.

Marrero is an interesting one, but if he is a bench bat it's a definite no from me because (a) he is left-handed and we have too many crappy left-handed bench bats

and (B) he can't hit for power and plays just first base so i suppose i am just stating the obvious.

You pay pinch hitters to not end the inning

Any word on Tracy and if he is likely to move (or not) to the 60 day DL?

That looked like more than just a tweak.  I'd DL Bernie and call up Brown now.

Yes, but if we did that, we'd miss the chance to play with a 24 man roster for a few games, which you know we like.  Besides, the Nats docs have to take their normal 4-5 day evaluation period.  Reading tea leaves and casting chicken bones takes a while, you know.  ;)

Shouldn't be on the team. Moore is capable of hitting quite well. We DFA Nady, call up Brown. Brown can stick around as the extra outfielder till Werth gets back.

I've been wondering about DeRosa. Story about his recovery...Davey says a few more tune-up games in the minors...

Why? What will DeRosa give the team? Tyler Moore looks like he belongs. Lombo can play any IF position as well as LF. Why not bring up Corey Brown?

Don't know if anyone saw Boz's speculative tweet before the game.

Thomas Boswell
@MarkZuckerman If DeRosa's back, Nady (.150), 5-yr career slide, is in jeopordy. So Davey, a square shooter, plays Nady: MAKE Us Keep You.

This does actually make some sense to me.  I don't think he forced his way back onto the roster.

Our "bench players" are now starters. Lombo was a bench player. Moore was a bench player. Flores was a bench player.

Personally, I think Nady should be DFA'd. Replace him with Brown. Put Zim on the DL and call up DeRosa. Whichever one of those two call ups plays better, stays.

Because this organization is so dysfunctional as far as roster construction, you're going to have to play left handed bats that you probably shouldn't against left handed pitching.

There are far too many left handed bats in this organization, especially in the upper parts.

But no lefty bats that cause any fear in the other team except Harper and LaRoche

Ah yes, lets not discuss the bench, instead lets whine about other fans discussing baseball. :smh:

Yeah and it's especially annoying when people think they made an intelligent breakthrough by saying they should DFA a bench player. Look around the league. Does any team really have a sundry of great bench players? You can't have stud bench players since they will be demanding to play.

Wat? This makes no sense. Why can't you have stud bench players? Means you have a good bench. Means you always have an option when guys go on the DL.

Nady has been starting for a while now. He sucks. Get rid of him. Call up DeRosa. We need a third baseman who can hit lefties. Nady can't play third and he can't hit.
