wtf is Dibble smoking? :?

the only guys that did anything offensively tonight were the bottom of the order guys.

Guzman is an automatic out. NJ is slumping. RZ is doing okay. Dunn is cold. Dukes is cold. Kearns is a lost cause.

Other teams have offensive slumps.  Why does this one seem so bad???

...profoundly bad!!!

Alert fat ass Thom Loverro. He said "We". The world is coming to an end. An announcer actually has an affinity for the club he covers.

freaking nag. Acta sucking off Villone and saying he's been pitching well for us lately.

WTF! He's been pegged with the loss in each of his last 4 outings! That is unheard of for a reliever.

Let it go. Manny knows its his last week and is just trying to top prior performances of BS.

Wow.  Just wow.  We had a legitimate chance to win against the Stankees in their own park against CC and the bullpen and offense decides to give up.

Some guy cracked the pattern (which wasn't random) using a VCR, and made a fortune. Amazing.

The Yankees are NOT unbeatable.  That ballpark is yielding a LOT of runs, especially home runs, which ought to bode well for the Natinals.

And, before the night ends, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ZIMMSGIRL72 Tuesday June 16!!!

freak that. Bernadina is the CF we badly lack. give him a chance

eh, no thanks.  that .264 career batting average in the minors doesn't scream everyday center fielder to me.

What a surprise I'm 0-3 when I go to see the Nationals.

Although...I did win $10 when Anderson Hernandez hit that Home Run. I turned to my friend who I went with tonight (whose a Mets fan) and said if Hernandzes hits a home run here you owe me $10, and if he doesn't I'll give you 5 chips at the next poker tournament.

I win.

Awww, thanks n2p, that's awfully sweet of you :)  Too bad they couldn't pull this one off.  Clearly no one was listening to the wish I made when I blew out my candles or we'd all be a little happier :) LOL

CANO HELPS YANKEES AVOID NATIONAL DISASTER
YANKEES 5 NATIONALS 3

June 17, 2009

It took a 4-for-4 night by Robinson Cano and a pair of flyball follies by Nationals center fielder Elijah Dukes, but the Yankees were able to avoid becoming the Nationals' 17th win of the season.

Down a run in the seventh inning, the Yankees turned things around for a 5-3 win last night in The Bronx, and avoided humiliation to the hapless Nats, who are on pace to win a measly 41 games.

...

After Alex Rodriguez struck out -- drawing boos -- Cano lined a shot to center that Dukes came in on. Naturally, it sailed over his head for an RBI double and a 4-3 Yankees lead.

"I thought it was going to be caught, but thank God he missed it," Cano said.

"In his defense," Nats manager Manny Acta said Dukes, "he's not a natural center fielder."

Of course not.

...

Cano got things going in the second inning, singling and later scoring on Melky Cabrera's sac fly to put the Yanks up 1-0. Zimmerman's throwing error from third allowed Damon to reach second to open the third inning and he later scored on a Cano single. Hey, the Nats, who lead the majors in errors, went two innings without a miscue. What did you expect?

If the Nats weren't the laughingstock of baseball before, 3 days of New York press should seal the deal.

In Manny's defense, he's not a natural manager.

Yup, I completely agree.  I was saying that same thing to some folks yesterday when I was listening to the NY talk radio guys making fun of us.  It's like the school yard bully beating up the hapless kid on the playground day in and day out.  Doesn't that become NOT fun at some point?  Where's the challenge?  I guess since we always find new and spectacular ways to lose, we keep giving them fresh fodder so it doesn't get boring. Sigh.

P.S.  Thanks hammonds :)

Those stats seem pretty comparable yet one is doing OK while the other one is cold. How is this possible?  :?
