He became too reliant on FX and lost his ability to get good performancens out of his actors.

Did he ever really have this?  For all the nostalgia, Star Wars had pretty terrible lines (Harrison Ford once said ""George, you can type this crap, but you sure as hell can't say it.").  Empire Strikes back was directed by Irvin Kershner and Jedi was directed by some other guy (name escapes me at the moment).

Agree with the rest of your post, though.  I deliberately avoided watching Indy 4 for a long time because I knew it was going to be terrible, and it was :(

Watching a new Lucas movie because of his 80's cred is like playing Rage because Doom 2 was so awesome.

I've heard that before, yeah, though I don't remember the source on it.  Might've been Ford himself.

Pretty much. I've always thought that the original star wars movies were overrated. Leia in her bikini and Ban Solo are the only things that save it.

Ironically, the Expanded Universe has blown up and is probably better than the movies. The novelization of Episode III is actually pretty good.

Currently waiting for Underworld.

"Red Tails" looks like a total turd.  When that ASSCLOWN Cuba Gooding Jr. is in it and "Babywipes" is the main star you know it's a crapsandwich.

Didn't they already make this movie? Last time I think it was called The Tuskegee Airmen, correct? I'll probably check it out on Netflix/Redbox though.

Underworld was good if all you care about is seeing Kate Backinsale in leather, shooting guns and hacking people up. If you're expecting a plot, you will be disappointed.

Left room open for another movie

I mean the first two Underworlds were the exact same thing and they did not disappoint (kate beckinsale wise).

Kevin McCarthy, Fox5 movie reviewer, covered Red Tails this morning.  Said while it had good special effects, the rest of the movie was a total turd (paraphrasing).   Said the script was horrible, that the actor sounded like they were reading the script for the first time, and on and on .  Gave it 2.5 stars fully on the special effects and underlying compelling story to be told.

If that Ricky BDK said it was a grasper I'm not spending my silly money watching those brother donks fly around.  This P1 has better things to do like pick out my outfit for the Junks Poker Open at the Borgata. :whip:

Just got out of Haywire.

I thought it was.great, but its quite different than what I thought it would be. If you're expecting a Bourne or John Cena in The Marine type flick, this ain't it. Very suspense filled but in French Connection, neo-noir type way. Don't get me wrong, there's some brutal fight scenes. Mallory is a one woman wrecking train. But its not as outlandish as movie fights tend to be.

Cast around her is good. I can definitely tell why they were interested in the movie. Didn't mail their performances in. Plot is ... Well its thin but its not bad. Typical betrayl/revenge plot with neo-noir taste and slant.

Good movie.

How was she?

Her 'acting' in the trailers was really turning me off from what I thought looked like a cool movie.

A little stiff. But not bad. The character is very no nonsense so that helps.
Oh and she looks great. Like when she makes weight great.

I really liked it, but I could understand people not liking it. The neo-noir is either love it or hate it. Personally, I love it. Brick is my favorite movie ever. French Connection is in the top 10. Just dig that suspense vibe

I liked the violence too. It was brutal and efficient, but not gory or over the top. It's exactly what I would expect from Gina in a real fight.

I still say it looks stupid.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not going to spend 12 bucks to find out.

Just watched Trainspotting for the first time. Pretty good movie but definitely disturbing at some points.
