They really do need to replace that horn sound. It doesn't sound too bad on TV, but I finally heard it at the park and it was terrible.

I actually had just the opposite reaction when I was at the double-header on Saturday.  I thought that the horn sounded better at the park than on TV.  With that said, I don't understand why they can't take advantage of that beautiful HD screen and show fireworks going off on that with the sound piped through on the stadium PA system after a HR and after a victory.  I think it would work.

Wow, what a fun game to be at. That was the best non-OD, non-Strasburg crowd that I know of. The stupid Cubs fans were crushed. All my booing of Werth got his lazy butt in gear and then he won the game himself (run scoring ground-out, 10th inning heroics). It was hot as hell but it was worth it. Wahoo!

The crowd is booing cos the Cubs are delaying the game with an empty pen.

I didn't realize it was an injury. That guy needed a longer warm up, and he also needs to learn how to hold runners.

HROD looked awesome in person. My friend said it was the most entertaining and eventful hitless, scoreless inning he'd ever seen.

He looks really good when hits the backstop in person too.

Zimmm and Morse out, Werth in; music to the Cubs ears.

...rather discordant music ('Take Me Out to the Ball Game' in a twelve-tone arrangement?), as things ultimately turned out....

PS I congratulated a guy in a Kearns jersey for giving the team the karma it needed to win.

Also... this was the first time I had seen Matt Stairs play in person... whoever had the idea to play "I'm not as good as I once was" as his walkup music deserves a raise... even if it was Stairs, himself.

Brilliant choice.

"EARN YOUR CHECK."

Your boss will soon be yelling that at you.  Of course, in your case you won't have a $126m guaranteed contract...

With Zimmermann pitching we hopefully won't be pinch hitting for the pitcher's spot too often this afternoon, but just in case I'd hope that Livan and Marquis are in the batting case right now.

Looks like Livan spent his time wisely, allowing him to bunt Werth forward a base and resulting in the winning run, while Marquis was obviously goofing off, leading to his striking out.

Yeah. Rodriguez can fool you by looking at his numbers but if you consistently watch him, you will also notice he has a lack of control. I think he threw at least 4 balls today in his outing that were way outside. One bounced and Pudge stopped it. Another was almost out of reach of a jumping Pudge. I do think he will get better with that though.

Rodriguez has improved mostly by doing the two things he needed to do - trade some velocity on the heater for some control, and use his sick curve more often. Once he showed he could throw the curve for strikes, everything changed. He's been able to do that with regularity despite lacking some control otherwise. He's still too wild with the heater to be trusted as a closer, but used as a reliever, particularly to start an inning so that he doesn't have to come in with guys on base, he can be effective balancing the fastball with the curve. Once he gets ahead, he can let loose with the heat and the batter either swings at crap or gets bounced back. He just needed to hear from some vets that he needed to dial it back a notch to get control of his game. He's so much better than he was earlier in the season.

Awesome idea! Why not write it in to Feffer.
