Interesting article on Davey's (lack of) contract situation.  With some LAC jabs thrown in -

I was wondering why the hell they haven't signed him yet. But he is still under contract, just not as a manager.

The Nationals really seem to love working at a deliberate pace... which has it's advantages and disadvantages.

meaning he cant go to another team, but he can retire if it turns into a pissing match

Obviously I hope it does not come to that, and obviously Rizzo and Davey like eachother. Unless there has been more than meets the eye when it comes to Davey's relationship with the organization then he'll re-sign.

Just a matter of when.... why not now, Nats?

I want another lefty bat and i don't want to trade prospects.
Morse at 1st
Melky in LF (for one year)

I'd prefer a lefty bat, too and I'd prefer it to be LaRoche's.  I think Melky's going to be stained and I wouldn't expect what we saw out of him in 2012 to be what we'll see from him in 2013.

Baker just reupped at supposedly 3.5 million per, Johnson has to think he's worth at least as much as baker, but that's far more than the Lerners have ever been willing to pay a manager- should be interesting

I think this is a likely scenario and it's also one of the ones I hope we avoid. A downgrade at first and no improvement at our previously weakest position  :spaz:

Also I think it's a bit generous to call Morse and Moore left fielders. They're first basemen who are blocked by a better first baseman and are stuck in the second least important position in the field as a consequence.

I'd have no problem having one of them roam around LF next year at all, especially if we can get LaR back.  Think it would be tough to find the offense that we have at that spot unless you're going to crazy and sign Hamilton.  The defensive liability is what it is, it's not insurmountable, as we saw last year.

Seems like a disadvantage when we need to get our manager signed before finding a new 3rd base coach.

Letting Pat Corrales go to the Dodgers might come back to haunt us, the team with money to burn now knows the players in our system as well as we do.

Our owners are on the stingy side and their owners are looking to make it rain, but without Corrales they don't know who to spend their money on, now they do.

this past season?  no.

but this year, the dodgers will be legit.

still think nats have one of the best teams in baseball, but they have holes they have to fill.

no i like the nationals, but i can say the dodgers will be good this season.

just like you can say you're not a fan of edsall but constantly stick up for him

let's see the nats add a few more pieces and not worry about the dodgers.
