The defense checks out when the bullpen torches the game. Amazing a 2 run differential in the 6th gives way to this nonsense. Does Manny really have faith in Hanrahan or is the organization forcing him on him? It's a mystery. How can everyone but these clowns not realize that the guy has done more damage to this season than anyone. His failure set the tone that the rest of the team came to expect. Bringing him into a game tells the rest of the team that the game is over. Pathetic.

DFA

Obviously, nobody wanted to see Hanrahan enter the game. But, I have some mixed feelings about roster management and a lot of the complaints we hear here.  Manny's got 25 guys, and in the major leagues you pretty much have to use all of them.  Not every night, of course, but if you don't rest your regulars, they wear down and are less effective.  Manny's got at least 4, if not 5 players right now that are completely worthless, which is too many to avoid.

Hanrahan
Colome
Belliard
Kearns
and Villone is rapidly moving towards the category.

It's down to $90- for the year but I tried the monthly for $20 to see how it does with my connection.  So far - not so good.

So almost halfway through the season (43%) and all you get in the form of a discount is 20 bucks (18%)?

You have to type your message AFTER the  text, not before it.  Sometimes, the quote is several rows down, so you may have to page down to find it.
[Thanks Tomterp and Spidernat!  Man, we know things are bad when the best thing that happens on a game night is teaching us old guys how to answer quotes on the message board!/quote]

What's really wierd is that at $20-/month, it's less to go monthly at this point.

CC's leading the Testudos to a glorious victory over sportsfan's motley crew.  In hindsight, my decision to put Zimmermann back in my rotation was an astute decision as well.  .500 is within sight.   :?

So you signed up on the 26th of June, how wrong would it be if your month was up on July 1st.

How appropriate that the seventh inning stretch is brought to us by Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey.  We sure could use some right now.

Embarrassing.  So embarrassing...

...and put Detwiler in the bullpen.  He's a long reliever, not a starter.

...and put Hanrahan on a bus, out of town!

I hear you. But I think he uses them incorrectly. This was a 3-1 game. Bergesen is pitching well, but a 3-1 game is as winnable as the Nats can expect to get. Hanrahan would be a guy you bring in now. Kearns and Belliard can be used more effectively than Manny has used them. I was shocked that Kearns wasn't subbed for Dunn last night. And Belliard should be getting pinch hit at bats earlier so that he gets more at bats in rather than expecting him to get no at bats and then get the critical at bat in the 8th or 9th.

The bigger problem is that the organization refuses to address the roster constraints that Manny has to deal with. They either need to direct him to use people differently or make changes.

Ass-cyst has to be the best pitcher in the big leagues working with a ten run deficit.   :?
