Steinberg might as well start writing his Dollar Dog Fail blog now.  The only blanks to fill in are the innings when they run out of each item, the lengths of the lines, and a few quotes.

I'm calling it right now - bottom of the first, 55 people deep, "It was a total crapshow.  These guys could freak up a one car funeral.  How did they run out of buns on $1 hot dog night?" - disgruntled Season Ticket Holder Marquis de Sade.

I came to the realization long ago that I would pay money to not stand in line so I would rather buy a $5 dog with no line than a $1 dog with a long line.

It really doesn't matter, they're going to run out either way.

It's good PR for them. Plus it gives their apologists a chance to hype the Lerner magnanimity towards the fans.
I don't think it is good PR to have a promotion that isn't available. People are going to hear about this, try and get tickets and then be disappointed. That's not good PR.

I'm interested in seeing how many of these end up on Stubhub - there are currently 67 tickets for sale in LF Section 108 - is this the area of the $1 tickets? If so, I'll count this as a failure by the Nats to (once again) not be able to keep these away from scalpers.

Any of them that show up in Section 205 are probably from the $1 deal or from the Buy 2 Get 2 free STH.

That's called maturity, though. Those with the college student mentality still or those who cannot afford anything else will wait in line.

You can still buy $5 dogs with a long line as well, at least in the 300's - at the Giants series (particularly the Saturday match that drew 28,766 - our best home attendance since Opening Day) the concessions were really caught out and queues were ghastly.

It sounded good for about a day though.

It could be a trial balloon with more to follow.

Anyone who thinks this won't be a trainwreck either hasn't been to many games or hasn't read much fan testimonial.

I can't wait to see how many super pissed off folks there are at the box office Monday.  I might have to get there early just to see it in person.

Didn't they do $1 outfield seats the day they drafted Strasburg?

FP- "Bob, the WNFFers have really whipped up the crowd!"
Bob- "FP, apparently all this because there are no more hot dog buns!"

If they did there couldn't have been that many discounted seats on offer - announced attendance that day (Tuesday 9th June 2009) was 16,274. (The opponent was Cincinnati and this was the series opener; the two subsequent fixtures drew 19,766 and 19,703.)

It was to celebrate signing Strasburg August 21st. GMUNat & I were both there.

I remember that game. I saw Blue before the game and vanished into the night afterward probably in a drunken haze.

I have had so many false memories lately I don't know what to believe. I was arguing with the imaginary people in my shower so much this morning my wife walked in and asked what I wanted.

The attendance was a bit healthier that day than in the earlier one cited (26,307).

There must have been some of these still available last night - they advertised both the $1 Monday and $2 Tuesday on the jumbotron last night - during the break between fifth and sixth innings and also right after the last out.

...either that, or someone isn't keeping things up-to-date.

Although there are no tickets left there still is hotdogs, and peanuts and whatever else is one and two dollars those days.  Still a reason to come out to the ballpark.
