I was expecting a hearty, flavorful beer, but for how dark it is it tastes watery and thin to me.

I'd put up Anchor Porter   :worship: , or Brooklyn's Chocolate Stout  against it any day.

You can't drink a 12 pack of Porter in a sitting. That's points for Shiner.

Miller has a lock on all beer at Nationals Park.

Mathguy, my Anheiser Busch source confirmed this is correct.  According to her, Miller has 75% of the beer concession in the park, which gives them marketing rights they can use to preclude a lot of competition.  Anheiser Busch is a major sponsor of the Olympics this year, which limited their ability to muscle in on the new Park.  Miller effectively blocked Cap Cities by prohibiting signage aside from on the taps, and Cap Cities wouldn't bend that far.

True.  I'd love to drink that much porter, but it's rich, high in alcohol, and thus best taken slowly.

I'm going to have to find myself one of these Chocolate Stouts. I've been on a real Guiness kick lately.  Stouts all have the nitrogen bubbles right? Is that a defining characteristic?  They have something called Young's double chocolate stout that my friend has mentioned at RFD. But the few times I've been there recently, they havent actually possessed it, just had it on the menu.

Guiness = very good. If I could get one that (loosely) tasted like chocolate, that would be amazing

Young's Double Chocolate Stout should be available at Whole Foods in tall cans, probably what they carry it in at RFD. It's tasty and has pedigree - there was a Young's pub on campus at Oxford.

There is no chocolate in the Brooklyn Stout, but, and I stake my beer reputation on it, you will never find a beer with more flavor.  Deep, dark, rich, velvety smooth and jammed with flavors of chocolate and coffee.

Here's some more educated palate reviews:

Pretty much everything Brooklyn makes tastes really good - except I don't do Pale Ale.

Did anyone notice that the Miller sign on the left side of the biggest scoreboard in MLB was never lit during either the exhibition game or home opener.  The ads on the right side were lit.  I wondered if Miller hadn't paid the fee yet.

I enjoy Peroni and Moretti - but try getting one in Italy - they always try to give you Budweiser :D

Maybe the fermentation process consumes the harmful bacteria in the water, and turns it into beer!

Hence the reason beer was invented - nutritious and safe to drink when the water is not

No, it's dehydrating like all alcohols are.

So it could not replace water and the whole "safety" thing is probably bogus

Not at all. If your choice is beer versus sewer water. Beer is safer period.

I think I should pour out the contents of the coffee mug in my office and replace it with a nice hoppy IPA.  Hell, it's almost noon!

Globalisation isn't all bad when it comes to beer...the availability of stuff like Peroni and Stella is a 1000 times better than it was before South African Breweries bought Miller.  The flip side is that a lot of it is just plain fake (Leffe "abbey ale" is now brewed in a huge plant in Brussels), but overall, I think the fact that one can buy a Stella at a ballgame almost anywhere in the country represents a net benefit.

Those are all Miller brands.
