Salas is untouchable, game over

Salas is on my WNFF 18-team fantasy baseball team.  He's been GREAT!

JINX!!!

Fernando Salas pitching for St. Louis
R Zimmerman singled to center.
L Nix struck out swinging.

Buster Olney is still saying that the Giants want to trade for Pudge. All of a sudden, I'm not sure if I want to see Pudge go. The chemistry on the team is really good right now.

I wonder if SF wants his crow served with Hollandaise sauce?  or Giblet Gravy?

Baseball is just fundamentally a better game than football. Yes, I shouted and screamed when John Riggins made that run...a shout of about 30 years of frustrated rage. A big deal. My son, age about 3, said, "Daddy happy! Mommy, Daddy happy!". He went went with me to watch SB 22 on a friend's color TV. That second quarter. "He has Sanders! Sanders...Sanders scores an 80 yard TD".

All great memories because it was the Redskins. The game, in itself, was nowhere near as intense as a baseball game. Up and down, each pitch. No playing to run out the clock. You've got to put them out three times in each inning. And the team can lose a lead in the 8th and 9th, then take a grounder up the middle, an ugly pitch into Morse's leg, and a wicked HR...and they've won.

I love baseball...especially when the Nats win.

Agreed.  Flores is not good enough right now and Norris is not ready.  Pudge is probably among the best backup catchers in the game.  The return on Pudge would have to be really really good.

And KRod just blew a save against the Braves so we may pick up a game on the Mutts, too.

Does that mean all the national reporters will shut up about the Mets and Reyes now?

No. The NY Daily News (= as much noise as all the national reporters) have proclaimed that Reyes is better than Derek Jeter, that Reyes always was better, and always will be better than Jeter. Reyes is is a combination of Ozzie Smith and Babe Ruth...rough translation from Daily News language of story in today's paper.

From a SF Giants blog:

The Giants asked about Yorvit Torrealba, not Taylor Teagarden. But Texas wanted Santiago Casilla, and offered no relief on the $3.25 million Torrealba would make next season.

But we’ll see what happens as the July 31 trading deadline nears and clubs begin to fall out of the race. I’m told that Pudge Rodriguez remains a legitimate target, if the Washington Nationals are sufficiently interested to return a phone call. As of this moment, anyone else — even an unsexy backup like the Yankees’ Francisco Cervelli — would cost the Giants someone like Dan Runzler or Zack Wheeler or worse.

On local news...are there more people on this board more often than, say, a typical day last year and in '09?

On the main board page, click "board stats" - you could spend an hour on that.

Tommy Lasorda with a shamelessly ignorant plug for the damn Lerners. Screw you Tommy. You don't know what you're talking about.

A little more chatting with Torre and Lasorda about the Nats would have been nice.

Or how about asking Torre about the suspensions.
