Everybody Wearing #42
« Topic Start: April 15, 2009, 06:27:59 PM »
Bud Selig is an idiot.  Having all players wear 42, on April 15th, is a stupid idea.

I also think that only National League teams should retire 42.

American League teams should retire #14 for Larry Doby.  He went through exactly the same crap that Jackie Robinson did.  So what if it was about three months after Jackie Robinson?  And Mr. Doby lived almost 20 years longer than Jackie Robinson, he wasn't given the attention then or now!!!

Cleveland, Detroit and DC would have never seen a black player in the majors, if it wasn't for Larry Doby.

NY,Boston, St. Louis (Browns), Chicago, and Philly (A's) had NL teams in their city in 1947, so they could have went to the NL games to see Jackie.

I don't have a problem with everyone wearing #42.  I do like the idea of retiring Doby's number in AL stadiums and Robinson's in NL stadiums.

The distinction between the leagues is gone. There's only one set of umpires. We should kill off the DH and be done with it. Retire both.

As for everyone with the same number, it's reverse PSU style. No problem with it.

I have a personalized #42 Nats grey road jersey.  What's wrong with it?
