The Mystics could have kicked the Wizards' asses until last season
Does the WNBA count as a sport?

Greg Popovich hired a WNBA veteran as an assistant coach.    "Pop" probably knows the answer.

You really think Popovich needs a "publicity move"?       :hysterical:

Yes. It astonishes me how many people think that a woman's team can beat a professional men's team. Or believe that college teams can beat pro teams.

True. I just don't consider the WNBA worth noting. Hell, I don't consider the NBA worth noting until the playoffs.

I heard a woman today (I think it was Hammon) asked about the possibility of a woman playing in the NBA and she said without equivocation that there is no way.

I know it's different but:

I heard a man today (I think it was Cobb) asked about the possibility of a black man playing in the Major Leagues and he said without equivocation that there is no way.

I come from the "never say never" school.

Probably the biggest obstacle will be strength. Joe Forte had enough skill to last a couple of years but he wasn't strong enough to last through an 82 game schedule.

Will there ever be a woman MLB player?

I could see a knuckle ball pitcher as a possibility

I guess the difference would be that I actually heard it on TV today and it had nothing to do with discrimination but with physical ability.

Think Cobb felt black men were his equal physically or mentally?

I'm bailin' out of this ride 'cause we could go 'round and 'round and both be right.    :)    I gotta make a rum run for tonight's game.    These last two Nats' games have put me back on the hard stuff.

No. I don't believe that. But the reality is that many people ("of note") shared those views in those times.

I was pointing out that the person who was asked that today (or maybe it was yesterday) was not one holding the view that women shouldn't be allowed to play in the NBA but a celebrated female player who played college, olympic and WNBA ball.

I think off the air and out of the social media, you'd find a lot of "noted" folks who don't believe women should be allowed to play in the NBA.   They hide behind the cover of "not having the physical ability".    When that fails, it would be "Where will they dress?"    That's pretty damn cynical, ain't it?    I better get two fifths.

Because Popovich could teach the Nats about bunting?

If yes, a knuckleball pitcher or defensive sub/pinch runner. The main obstacle is the system funneling girls into softball instead.
