I've tried ignoring the game just to minimize any jinxing...doesn't help.

Strange, usually the jinx fairies respond positively to such favorable entreaties.  Are you sure you were sincere?

Reds win.  Gotta wait one more day to settle this one.

Dodgers crapting the bed vs the Giants. Meaning the Cards are going to roll over for the Reds tomorrow. And we face Cliff Lee who owns us more than anyone.

We can beat the Giants. We can beat the Braves---or Cardinals. What's most important is knowing whether Edwin Jackson is ready for the playoffs orbit we should rely on another pitcher like John Lannan.

I can handle losing to the Giants. I cannot handle losing to the Braves.

Might've stepped on a sidewalk crack too.  Those things can be at terribly inconvenient intervals relative to the distance of one's stride.

Anything can happen in a one game playoff - could be the Cards.

here's a different perspective on the playoff seedings.  would you rather force the two best opponents (ATL and Cinci) and a hot team (St. L) into a bracket so only one team survives, or would you prefer having to go through 2 of them to get to the World Series?

Both Gio and JZ have been good against SF and at AT&T.  Decent shot at winning at least one if not two coming home.  That may not be the worst possible world.

I'd much rather face the Giants than the Braves/Cardinals.

The ideal situation is #1 seed, first round against the Cards.

But the worst matchup, IMO, is against the Braves.

I'll take the Giants as a safe choice. We dominated them in the regular season, while we were highly inconsistent against the Cards and Braves.

Medlin lined up to pitch Friday against the Cards on normal 4 days rest. If he and the Braves win, his next start is lined up as Wed - Game 3 in the NLDS either in Washington or Cincinnati.

Count me as one who wouldn't mind seeing the Nats go to SF.

So we sacrifice EJax in game three and try to win 3 of the other 4 with Gonzo, JZ, and Set, sounds like a better plan to me than flying across country to face a Giants team with their rotation lined up.

Braves aren't that good against left handers.  Detwiler does pretty well against the Braves minus Prado who kills him.  Gio, JZ, and Detwiler would give us a pretty good shot against the Braves.

Maybe because I took a peak? Couldn't resist around 9:15...hoped to see a bust-out Nats lead. Watched the end of the game while keeping a eye on MLB Pirates/Braves.

Now that I think about the 2-3 LDS format this year, I'm a little upset.  Normally, it would be 2-2-1, meaning the first round would have us at home (if we're the #1 seed) on Sunday, Monday (a federal holiday), and (if needed) Saturday.  Now we get three games during the week (W-Th-Fri), with the highly likely possiblity that some or all of them may be day games with starts as early as 1:00.  Great move, MLB :smh:

The 2-3 thing is crap, I don't care what their reasons for it were/are.  It's crap.

It's funny to me that I remember not being bothered when it was announced because it was only for one year and surely if it affected the Nats at all they'd be the lower seed.  Oops.

I agree and I hear they will be changing this next year.  Personally I'd love to see the home team get 4 games at home in the first round do a 2-1-2 format but I know that makes for travel problems.

I didn't want to face the Braves but lately I've come around on that.  With the way the season series ended I feel like we've got something to prove, and I want it proven.  That and I still like our matchups with them better than the Cards.
