Who knows we might get stuck with John Lannan in that game that is assuming we even make it that far.

  • What if there were no hypothetical situations?
Posted in the Nats trade talk thread

and this thread would work here- http://www.wnff.net/index.php?board=17.0

Anyways, it could make for an interesting race to the end.

Sorry, I didn't see that. Thanks.

Whatever. This won't put the Braves over the top. Hopefully they had to burn down the farm.

Seriously:

- the Braves have some good hitters, and some chumps

- the Braves pitching is weak. Now they have Hudson and Dumpster. The Nats have six competent starters.

- the Braves made a ton of errors marked as Nats hits. A friendly home-scorer. Up close, it was clear that the Braves often hurried and botched plays against fast Nats, such as Harper and Bernadina.

Bring in Ryan Doumit as a counter move and we'd be golden

According to both the mlb.com story previously link, and also ESPN.com (http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8192150/sources-atlanta-braves-close-deal-chicago-cubs-ryan-dempster), it appears all they're having to give up is Delgado.

I still don't really believe Dempster is good.

There's no disputing he's had a very good year so far. Whether or not it's sustainable is the question

Delgado would be a big overpay.

I agree -- Dempster is having a great year -- but giving up Delgado is huge.

It is early. It wouldn't be the first time the main name was the only initially mentioned with more to come later.

Regardless, Dempster ain't going to put them over the top. The book on Dempster is inconsistancy, you never know what you are going to get. I am hoping they get 2006 Dempster but I can live with 2011 Dempster.

I'm not that worried. This might make the race a little tighter, but they had to do something to counter us.

He's definitely good.

Not what I wanted to hear!
We still have two All-Stars in our rotation and come playoff time our top 3 pitchers are an All-Star, Jordan Zimmermann who is having a great season, and Edwin Jackson who has lots of playoff experience.

Would have preferred him not going to Braves, but I'm confident in saying Dempter's production thus far is simply not sustainable.

Even still they have Mike Minor in the rotation who sucks, Hanson is not doing well and Hudson is older than dirt. They had to make this move, but give me our rotation, even without Strasburg.

Obviously Atlanta is panicking because they were dominated by John Lannan

Not that I blame them ... :)

Actually, it should be in the non-Nats trade deadline thread on that board ( http://www.wnff.net/index.php?topic=26977.0 ), but I'll let it run here for a bit before locking and moving.

True. I normally don't want to be that guy that posts about right thread/wrong thread but since he/she's a new poster, just letting em know.
