I know you're just mocking SF and a couple of others, but he did have a walk and a run tonight.

People saying he's turning into a bum again after two weak games are a joke.  He's carried the offense all year and had a 3-hit 4-run game against the Bucs.

He's cooling off. We knew he would. If he can hit his career average, I can live with it..

Facing a lefty, so it might be a good time to give him a breather.

Hiis average may be down but his OBP/SLG/OPS are right with his career averages.

I know I have been guilty of trying to trade him just about every week but you have to wonder now if the team might look to work out a 3 year deal with him this offseason or something. You have to think that after playing for so many teams, he'd really like the idea of playing here with our future for the next couple of years. Hell, you let a guy like LaRoche go and the next thing you know, you're (over)paying $90 million in 2 years to get his exact offensive equivalent at first base. The Phillies would KILL for 4 years of 2012 LaRoche numbers out of Ryan Howard for their $125 million.

Yeah he's streaky as hell but he's still going to put up 30+ homers this year and play great defense at first. And guys like him tend to keep their power into their mid-30s so you might even get a 36 homer year out of him at a bargain price.

Ok, back to watching ping pong.

I'm totally on board with bringing him back. He's going to give you 25 home runs/100 RBIs - that's outstanding production and  I think he's defense at first alone has been invaluable

Not to bring down the mood in this thread... but only once in his nine year career has he ever reached 100 RBI's. In fact, one has to wonder if it's all that smart to bring LaRoche back... as he's basically having a career year this year, nine years in... and the player you're likely get next year will probably be slightly worse.

Having said that, he's had an excellent season and lets hope he finishes the season strong leading the Nats into the playoffs!

Well if he doesn't get 100 RBIs this year it certainly wont' be his fault. It's not like any of the turds in front of him were getting on base in April and May this year!

then doesn't that mean RBIs aren't a good way to judge him?

It's pretty safe to assume that guys who get 120+ in a season are doing something right
