Did not know this.  "Good" to know :?

Depending on how you look at it, it's either a mindfact or exaggeration but I stand by it.

Holy crap...The Mods, unlike the umpires in today's game, are on their game today.

Like you just did. ;)

It's all good.  I always enjoy getting the joe anybody treatment.  It's much better than the "omg the man is holding me back" response.

Right, but it should be doable to work out some average numbers by "position" so to speak.
An easy method would be to use the 2011 stats for the announced 2012 #5 starters for each team.  There are a lot of teams where Lannan would go much higher than #5.  Example: Twins have a bad rotation.

Nah, I am all for Ross discovering his potential, I just think it's funny how badly seem people want to put him on a pedestal over 5 innings (or the always-reliable "good September").  Everything about this team could be a mirage right now for all we know.  I'm just holding back on the unrestrained enthusiasm until we've played a few more games.

Jesus, the Ross hate on here.

Bit of a sidetrack but this is the thing that has annoyed me so far. Unrestrained pessimism after a couple of games is all right and reasonable (or just called blowing off steam) but the opposite should be reigned in.  :?

I don't believe it was suggested that it should be reined in. But posters are free to rein it in or cut it loose at their discretion.

I don't think I've cut loose in that regard either, but if you can provide evidence to the contrary, go for it.

And let's not even pretend that I've reigned anybody in, or that either side hasn't egged on the other.  If anything, the shiners have been MUCH worse about this so far.

Why let it annoy you? Soak it up. Roll around in it when the negative nancies are wrong. Rub it in to PC's face at the end of a thread, when we win. It's how we do it here.

Not worth it, we got hosed on the 3rd out 3 times. Cost us 4 runs, end of story.

Thing is I don't think some people are sincerely negative as much as they just have a particular shtick they have to live by.

Foolish optimism, sure.  I don't think anyone with a reasonably positive outlook has been trolled by anyone who isn't already widely known as such.
