I'm just about done reading Cary Elwes book about the making of The Princess Bride.  If you are a fan of the movie (and seriously, who isn't?) then I strongly recommend reading his book.  The stories about Andre the Giant and the making of the Miracle Max scene are worth the price of the book alone.

Saw "Snowden" today   ...   maybe 3 1/2 stars.    It was interesting background but it is Oliver Stone.

I watched Judgment at Nuremberg last night for the first time. Spencer Tracy and Burt Lancaster as the main stars. Even a young William Shatner. Good stuff.

I watched that last year--the missus said she saw it when she first came to the US but didn't understand it.  Found it on You Tube.  Excellent. Henry Fonda and many other great actors.

I saw Everest in Imax and for me anyway it was truly breathtaking at times, closest I'll ever get to knowing what it feels like to climb that sucker, I could totally see where certain movies are definitely enhanced watching them in Imax.  For the most part though I'll take a 2D movie over 3D, that gets to be a bit much to me after awhile.

Nothing like coming late to a conversation.

However, if you found the Everest story interesting (you'd have to be dead not to) you should also read Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer.  This is an amazing story from Krakauer's perspective of the same mountain storm - the National Geo team was filming the movie while Krakauer's team was hitting some substantial life threatening issues.  One of the really outstanding outdoor non-fiction adventure books for sure.

Read it years ago and was absolutely riveted, it's the reason I was SO looking forward to this movie and in IMAX 3D it definitely did not disappoint, but yea that book was awesome.

Well I still haven't seen the move Everest, despite loving the book.    :-[

I also read Junger's "Perfect Storm", another superior non-fiction adventure, but haven't seen that movie either.   Though I think Everest would be far superior to Perfect Storm on film.

Into the Wild is also good.

I haven't met a Krakauer book that I did not like.

Jack Reacher dragged a little bit.    Not as good as the last episode (filmed in Pittsburgh).    There's a series of scenes that start with a Nats' hat.    :)

i've read both Davinci's Code and Inferno and immensely enjoyed both.  I never saw the first movie as reviews were bad, but the new one looks very good.

I saw the Da Vinci code but I'm boycottin' Hanks for the second one.

Hacksaw Ridge   ....  might go see that on discount Tuesday after I vote,  just for the contrast of it all.

Hacksaw Ridge was great.

Kind of considering that.   Despite priding myself on being reasonably knowledgeable about US military history I had not heard that story before.

Good summary here:

Enjoyed "Arrival" this weekend.  Interesting twist at the end.
