My mom sent me this picture of their backyard this afternoon. Look closely—there are two deer.

first one distracts you while the second one does the thieving.

For anyone who has the PBS app, the full episode of the Private Life of Deer is available- I couldn't believe how dense they actually are in suburbs

Check out this guy's blog.  He is adept at finding local wildlife, and uses quite a few motion sensor cameras around Northern Va.

Finding coyotes, and love the bobcat in Centreville.  He even caught a bobcat chasing a deer across a stream.

Look around at his pictures, he has a really good on of a bear taking a dip in a mountain stream.

We had a milestone last night: The cat I've mentioned previously in this thread is still coming almost every day and last night I got her to come inside for the first time—I put her food and water inside the kitchen but near the door and left the door open while we stood on the other side of the counter and watched. The cat came to the door and saw the bowls and then very cautiously came over to them. We didn't go near the door or make sudden moves so as not to scare her, and we left the door open so she could leave. She definitely saw us there (especially when I waved at her). So we'll see what happens. It's taken 16 months to get her this far.

I don't know if we do. I kind of like the idea that we feed her but are not responsible for taking her to the vet (and the expense thereof) and such. On the other hand, you'd have to see her out there on our deck to understand what I mean about how sad she always looks. She's eating more than ever since the lady across the street moved away, so I suspect she's lost a source of food.

As soon as she shows up with an infected ear or eye, you'll be paying the vet bills. Don't kid yourself. You already have a cat.
