Listen, I'm a Nats fan first and foremost so don't get that confused.  I want to see us destroy the Fish and, at a minimum, not finish in last place in the NL East.  I just don't see where it's written that I can't be excited about players on other teams, even our division rivals, doing well.  Everyone here would crucify me for heresy if I said "let's trade for Mike Stanton" but I would do it in a heartbeat if I was a GM.

Man, I wish Zimmermann would be good enough to be on par with other #1 pitchers.

Oops, I guess I should have mention my order didn't make it in time.  Besides, you know I do that to jinx the opponent. 8)

You think there are 30 other starters in MLB better than Zimmermann?

Ha!  My wife and her friends are probably going to start a MMFF.net - Michael Morse Fan Forum.

Heh.  I wouldn't choose FIP, personally, but I linked to fangraphs since it contains other more traditional info as well.  By almost any measure accepted by either school of thought, Zimmerman is easily a top 20 pitcher (or better)

But he's not a #1 pitcher! Get that through your head - he's not a #1. He's already been labeled a #2 and can't rise above that with his performance.

40th by SIERA (which Sharp sold me on). Nevertheless, I still think he's a #1.

Are we judging him on what's happened of what could happen?

True.

Stats and other fact based measurements will never trump mindfacts.

First, I assume you meant "or". Also, all these stats use information that has happened, so I'm not sure what you're getting at here.
