That's horrible.  At least "Me Wise Magic" had those bad ass backing vocals by Michael Anthony and a cool chorus.

Van Halen without Michael Anthony and David Lee Roth reminds me of a joke about Jack Bruce:

What do coffee and Jack Bruce have in common?  They both suck without Cream.

The xx, Throbbing Gristle and M83.

I can't believe I'm going to buy scalped tickets to a damn 9:30 Club show to see M83.

M83 is awesome.

Listening to Cunninlynguists - "Oneirology". This might be the best rap album of the year.

saw OK GO at a conference I'm attending today, they opened the show at 8 AM (and woke everyone up).  This is a fantastic video:

Solid, heavy melodeath. I prefer deeper growls, but this dude does a good job of the raspy shouting. I'll have to check out the rest of the album.

So Epica is releasing a new album in March. I rarely listen to them much anymore, but they'll always hold a special place in my metal heart for being my favorite "bridge band", as it were, that helped me transition from classical-ish stuff to metal. I have cautious optimism for this album, which is called Requiem for the Indifferent. Judging by the title, however, they're going to try to have politically themed lyrics like their previous album, Design Your Universe, which is unfortunate because they suck at it. They aren't as unsubtle as, say, Megadave, but they still are a little too blatant for my tastes and they lack substance. Fortunately, what DYU lacked in good lyrics was more than made up for in quality material. It was considerably heavier than their other albums, which admittedly isn't hard to do; their previous stuff barely classifies as metal; and the overall composition quality and musicianship improved substantially as well. Combine this trend towards heaviness, the addition of two former members of blackened melodeath outfit God Dethroned to the lineup, and constantly improving vocals by both Mark Jansen and Simone "I'm half-naked on half of our album covers" Simons, and it is probably fair to expect a very solid album despite wonky lyrics.

God Dethroned was awesomely brutal. Plus, they were Dutch.

It's the melody and drums that really get me. The lyrics are actually really good, too.

I don't...I ca..I..what? How?

Hospitals are probably the biggest user base, I'd assume.  In a SCIF there is usually no cell reception but I've seen some folks with pagers.

Yes.

I think I'd take Midnight Marauders to the desert island instead, though. I couldn't leave Steve Biko (Stir it up) behind. Tough call.

Did you guys watch the documentary "Beats, Rhymes & Life"? It was dope, but made me kinda mad. They are still mad immature.
