That would be just fine.  By the time Hammer and Werth's contracts were running out you'd have Burgess and Harper knocking on the MLB doorsteps.  Not a bad plan at all.  It would potentially cost us our first round pick for Werth (if the Phillies offer arbitration, he's a type A, and we have a top 15 record) but it seems like the kind of move that would be worth it.

Definitely. At that point Id rather have a big bat than a young guy who would take some time to get up here. Would definitely be worth it. Would be cool to see it work out like that. Would be nice to see Burgess and Harper ready by the time Hammer and Werths contracts end. Its nice to think that we have a chance to stay a pretty solid team within the next years. (if everything works out)
