I'm just now following soccer and hate Crate&Barrel but, yeah, I guess I'm a yuppie scumbag.

if you live in crystal city, you're either military or yuppie (or in the case of my last building crazy senile old lady who used to set off fire alarms and get her mail in her underwear)

Lots of retirees, especially from US Patent and Trade.  Some folks with vision or mobility impairment who like being above the underground.

When I was in bidness school, the word "yuppie" had not yet become generally accepted.  The term my marketing prof used was "Y.P."   He said they were the coke sniffers in the London Fog ads.  The word "yuppie" kind of became common lingo around 1984 in connection with Gary Hart's campaign.  Young Urban Professional.  The alternative was "Yump:" young upwardly-mobile professional.

Two amusing things that happen at least a couple of times a year - older gay dudes hitting on me and hot chicks saying they want my eyelashes.  What can I say Spider - I'm livin' the life.

No wonder the bears love you.  You're a pretty boi. :lmao:

I shouldn't laugh, though.  I get hit on by "daddy" types all the time.  :couch:

I used to have to travel 140 miles round trip to work. I now travel 3 miles round trip. It was awesome getting that two hours a day back.

We pack up this weekend. Moving out from our condo in Falls Church to a house we recently bought in Springfield.

Commute to work in Tysons Corner goes from 15 minutes to about 30 but that's still not bad.

Amen.  Used to commute 30-35 miles on a bike, now I go down the stairs to my home office.  Unfortunately this has made me bloated and fat, but the extra hours of sleep are impossible to give back.

140 miles??  Really?!?

When God created the first fat dude from clay, he looked at himself in the mirror and then looked to the skies and shouted, And lo, God bestowed upon him the finest eyelashes in the land.

He said they were the coke sniffers in the London Fog ads Arsenal scarves.

FTFY.

No wonder the bears love you.  You're a pretty boi. :lmao:

I don't think we've ever met in "real life" but I do have a girly face.  Gotta be something the chubby chases/bear fanatics are into.  Again, why can't it be rich old broads with hard bodies?

Have you brushed up on your Spanish?  Which part of Springfield are you moving to?

Pretty much.  I would say anyone that shops at Crate&Barrel and the Apple store, has an advanced degree, is some kind of "knowledge worker", reads Slate or Metafilter and follows soccer but that would almost describe me.

Nice, I hate Apple and Crate and Barrel, and WTF is a knowledge worker?

You mean the lady with the gibberish signs cobbled together from the day's headlines that yells at everyone? Is she still around?

He's referring to the lady who was murdered, charges made against her 50 something husband.

Cumberland to Hagerstown 5 days a week. 70 miles each way. We carpooled though, so it wasn't as bad, but still. We had 4 people in our car pool, each of us would drive once a week and then, once per month, each person would drive twice in a week.

Sounds like maybe you haven't spent a lot of time there.  The ol' brickyard up in Mount Savage aint what she used to be!    :old:
