What an idiot. 12 pitch AB and then Boone swings at that first pitch.

We just do not play smart baseball. You will not win games playing like we do.  Two terribly flawed ABs already.

Well, that bit of excitement was short lived.

I would like to thank the most electrifying third baseman in the league, Ryan Zimmerman. His DP was a work of art.

I'd say that inning comes pretty close to summing up this season for the Washington Nationals.

two hits a walk and no runs. it takes 4 base runners in one inning to score a run

why didnt that suprise me! a bunt would have been appropriate from a .245 zimm

1st and 2nd with no outs is a bunting situation and Manny knows it. He even declared last season that while he doesn't believe in sac bunting with a man on 1st with no outs unless the pitcher is up or it is late in the game (which is the correct strategy), one should expect him to bunt with 1st and 2nd and no outs even if the meat of the order is up. The only reason not to do it is if the hitter is so on fire or rarely hits into DPs. For some reason Manny is under the delusion that Zimmerman in David Ortiz or Manny Ramirez.

I'm sure the O's are shaking in their boots about next inning. They will have to face:

NeverLastings Milledge .240 (who swings at everything, including the moths)
Elijah Dukes .048 ("Effortlessly" is exactly right)
Rob Mackowiak .176 (Scary in some countries)

the scary thing is that these numbers used to be the heart of our lineup. zimm .245, kearns .190 and pena .140

well, this is what the Lerners signed up for when they decided to field a bunch of young players mixed with sorry journeymen.

the young players struggle at times, because that is what young players do.

and the journeymen just suck and show WHY they are journeymen.

why are we surprised here?

Thank goodness Zimmerman and Boone kept things under control, I was in danger of actually being excited.  That would have been terrible.

Screw MASN. They stopped showing the game on the HD channel and instead are showing some old movie.
