Gameday Thread: Nats vs. Astros, Game 4
« Topic Start: July 24, 2005, 12:20:37 PM »

Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (5-4, 6.79)
Astros (50-47)

John Patterson, RHP (4-2, 2.69)
Nationals (55-43)

Game Time 1:05 PM

MLB Scouting Report:
Rodriguez was impressive in the second game of a doubleheader in Pittsburgh, allowing four runs (two earned) over six innings in a 6-4 win over the Bucs. The rookie left-hander adhered to manager Phil Garner's request to work on his changeup, which he did, with success.

Patterson will face the Astros for the first time in his career. He threw eight shutout innings as the Nationals defeated the Rockies, 4-0, on Monday. He struck out eight batters and walked two, relying mostly on his fastball. Patterson's right hand was so moist that he had a tough time throwing the curveball, so he stopped throwing it after a couple of innings. The win was Patterson's first since June 11; in the interim five weeks, he was 0-1 with five consecutive no-decisions.
