Ignore anything hammonds says about Corey Brown. He's already decided that Brown sucks and will never amount to anything.

All Hail Josh Willingham and his major-league leading 22 strikeouts!

I bet if we called up Corey Brown tomorrow and made him the starter in center that he would play no worse than any of the other options we have. And he'd be a rookie.

I'm pretty sure he'd be worse.

Does anyone have a good site to look at for minor league lefty / righty splits now that minorleaguesplits.com is down?  I had read Brown's splits were bad, which has made me a skeptic, but I can't find the stats anymore.

I hate that minorleaguesplits went away. What a great site that was.

In terms of 2011, though...

vs. LHP - 1/4, .250/.400/.250/.650
vs. RHP - 7/34, .206/.270/.353/.623

EDIT: If you are looking for history (2005-10) you can down load them at minor league splits

Try this site, not as good as minorleaguesplits but will still get you what you need:

Corey Brown's splits from AA 2010:

vs Left:  .266/.355/.435
vs Right:  .356/.455/.546

Odd... he seems to flip flop year to year on what type of pitcher he hits better.

Thanks.  I'm less impressed with his power against LHP than against RHP, but that figures.  The OBP v. LHP seems to bounce a lot, but in any individual season, it seems to be influenced by small numbers. That said, both years in AA he seems to not be weak against lefties.

how much do you trust major league equivalents?  I'm interested in how the kid will do when he makes the majors, not so much how he would have done had he magically been plunked in the majors when he was playing in rookie league.  MLEs I'd think are more useful at AA and AAA when the kid is close.

i'm not giving up on him.

it's just i find it funny how PA can knock few players and people but gets all defensive when someone knocks one of his boys (very SFesque).  if corey brown kills it in AAA and gets the call up here, i'll gladly cheer him on and hope he kicks ass.  i'm just underwhelmed by his numbers in AAA and i don't think he'll amount to much.  so sue me.

and his 3 homers would lead this team and his 10 rbis would be second!

10 RBIs are nice, but I am willing to bet he's had a few more men on base in front of him. Just a hunch...but yes, his 3 HRs would lead the team...as would his league leading 22 Ks.

Solid outing for detwiler.... he goes 6 with 95 pitches , 3 earned and 9 hits. And a chance to win the game.

You're absolutely right. We are so missing this production:

Willingham is just 4-for-26 (.154) with one extra-base hit since he hit his third home run of the season April 10
