Nationals vs Royals, Game 3
« Topic Start: June 23, 2010, 12:58:37 PM »
Lineup:
Morgan–CF
Bernadina–RF
Zimmerman–3B
Dunn-1B
Willingham–LF
Rodriguez–C
Desmond–SS
Kennedy–2B
Strasburg–P

I don't even need to post what I think about that lineup. You can probably guess what I think about it.

I don't really see an issue with it.

I think that's what he's saying, it's ideal, or nearly so. Morse swapped in for Nyjer or Kennedy is better.

I don't get why Desmond is batting ahead of Kennedy. It doesn't make any sense.

ID is better with people on base. Kennedy blows period.

Desmond has had much better numbers with RISP.  Not saying I put a lot of stock in that, just offering a possibility.  I don't think Riggleman trusts Kennedy.

I still want to see ID bat second, especially since he's struggling a bit in the 7th/8th holes.

As far as Morgan goes, people, Riggleman is going to stick with him he's their everday CF.  He had a sac last night and a walk and hit the night before.  He's also playing solid defense.  Deal with it.

Get away (from work) game. :)

I was expecting Nieves for some reason. I thought someone posted he would catch Strasburg this time.

Desmond doesn't hit well enough to be counted on at the top of the lineup.

Great glove man with occasional pop... but 7th-8th is where he belongs.

you have your opinion.

here's his splits batting 2nd:

.353 avg, HR, 5 RBI, .971 OPS ... yeah i guess that's not good enough to bat 2.

How many PA does he have in that spot? Plus, he hits vs. Lefties in that spot. Doesn't make sense to put him in the 2nd spot when he is a joke at the plate vs. RHP.

he bats .253 vs. righties ... hmmm okay?

bottom line i'm not the only one who has brought this question up before.

and fwiw, i'm fine with bernadina hitting there today, just saying i'd like to see desmond bat there more often it's where he's at his best IMO.

Desmond the last 28 days

.226/.244/.345/.589

Love the kids glove... not crazy enough to think his bat plays in the top half of the lineup.

i've said he's struggled and young players will go through with that.  he's going to be that hot and cold hitter.

but my point is, he does a good job in the 2nd spot - AND THE NUMBERS BACK IT UP - why not try him out there a bit more.  again i'm not the only one who has brought that up ... i'd like to see him there more often.

i'm getting ready for the game.  go nats.

You're just not going to see too many players move up in the lineup when they are struggling like Desmond is.

Gates open at 2 but I'm not allowed to go to my seat until 3?  Great job Nats.  I pay this much for President's Club seats I should be able to sit there as soon as the park opens.
