The glove was noted on Nats Extra during the pre-game.

Ian's leadership and personal characteristics are often cited. And now that he's having an all-star year on the field, he's becoming the complete package.

I went to yesterday's TBTC game and absolutely loved it. The uniforms were great, the effort among the grounds crew and ushers was a nice touch, and I just really liked the uniforms (though the NY Giants unis were pretty sweet too). I brought my 1940's glove along (closest I had to the era) and walked over to Ian as he was standing along the fence. I told him that with the old unis he needed an older style glove. He check it out and decided to go warm up with it. A good time was had by all.

Then he threw it over to Espinosa

That is EXTREMELY cool. He looks like a natural for it, too!

It's sort of like the same deal with Espi right now. Yes, he's playing like crap. But most baseball people understand that young players need time to develop and work their way through things at the MLB. If he's got the skills (like Desi clearly has) you need to be patient.

Desmond is one of the nicest and most genuine dudes, not just in MLB, but on earth.

The Desi haters who wanted him benched or traded last year must be loving this.

Sweet, didn't realize they mentioned it on the pre-game. I wish they had all of that on MLB.tv or on MASN, I'd love to see it. Oh well.

Oh hey, they did is in the video on MLB.tv, cool. "Ian Desmond had better not use that little glove all night..."

And have him sign it...

I feel like B&W would be appropriate for it too...

Actually, if you don't mind, I think I may use it for my Avatar. I've been looking for a good one and didn't have it yet. Gonna old timey B&W/age it in photoshop tomorrow.

FWIW Rafael Furcal just left the Cardinals game with an injury in the 9th. Could open up the starting spot for Ian.
